Bless this land
[Verse 1]
There’s a line at the food bank, Folks living in the streets, Gas and bread cost more each day, No work and tired feet. We turn on the news and all we see Is anger and despair, Neighbours shouting, pointing blame, Lord, are You still there?
[Chorus ]
Oh Lord, bless this land, (bless this land) Shine Your light, take our hand, (take our hand) Guide us through the darkest night, Fill our hearts with what is right. Oh Lord, bless this land, (bless this land) Let Your love forever stand, From the mountains to the foam— Oh Lord, bless Canada, our home. (Oh Lord, bless Canada, our home.)
[Verse 2]
Hospitals with waiting lines, The sick left holding on, People spending what they don’t have Just to carry on. We’ve lost our faith in leaders’ words, And some in You above, But deep inside this northern soul Still burns a spark of love.
[Chorus]
Oh Lord, bless this land, (bless this land) Shine Your light, take our hand, (take our hand) Guide us through the darkest night, Fill our hearts with what is right. Oh Lord, bless this land, (bless this land) Let Your love forever stand, From the mountains to the foam— Oh Lord, bless Canada, our home. (Oh Lord, bless Canada, our home.)
[Verse 3 ]
We’ve forgotten how to cook and share, No picnics on the green, The table’s cold, the laughter’s gone, And love goes rarely seen. No neighbours dropping by for tea, No family round the fire, Lord, restore the bonds we’ve lost, And lift our spirits higher.
[Chorus]
Oh Lord, bless this land, (bless this land) Shine Your light, take our hand, (take our hand) Guide us through the darkest night, Fill our hearts with what is right. Oh Lord, bless this land, (bless this land) Let Your love forever stand, From the mountains to the foam— Oh Lord, bless Canada, our home. (Oh Lord, bless Canada, our home.)
[Bridge]
Our friends down south throw angry words, Try to pull us in their fight, But we are brothers, sisters all— Turn darkness into light. Let truth and kindness lead the way, Forgiveness mend the past, May hope and faith be born anew, And peace return at last.
[Outro]
Let us love our neighbours, Let us heal and mend, Wit
