Its Come to This

Generations of bliss
and of great ignorance
for always its been
of keen interest

to discern where this goes
and how this does arise
while lost in the throes
of all this implies

we gaze so far off
just to see an abyss
we can never cross
or freely dismiss

our fate has been fixed
now give it a kiss
for always its been
coming to this

we little remember
the ages gone by
they were but the ember
that lit this goodbye

our turn on the wheel
we cannot deny
the cards are to deal
and then not ask why

the soil's been tilled
and grown filled with rye
with so many killed
and more who have died

every one of the tears
we could ever cry
for ten thousand years
could fall from the sky

with trembling fear
we can ask humbly why
only to hear them
flow idly by

we gaze so far off
just to see an abyss
we can never cross
or freely dismiss

our fate has been fixed
so give it a kiss
for always its been
coming to this
