Empty Eyes.

I saw you again, the other day
In that moment before you turned away

You looked away with a sigh
Enough to make me want to cry

Wondering what went wrong
With a person once so strong

Your spirit used to light up my life
When my memories were only good
Full of hope for a life to come

Seems to have been lost
Somewhere along the way
Reasons known only to some

Your empty eyes that once sparkled
Now seem dark as night

Once had the power to command a room
But no longer draw a crowd

Able to light up a thousand faces
Now seem less than a candle’s flicker

Your spirit used to light up my life
When my memories were only good
Full of hope for a life to come

I feel so sorry, I feel so low
Its all my fault, I know

No words needed to be spoken
Your spirit battered and broken

The truth there to see
