Brass Angles
By Ann Trabucco
Intro: Sways in his suit to the smooth saxophone,
Reeks of charm and clean cologne,
Roams the dance floor and studies the band,
Bright eyes twinklin’ like grains of sand.
Verse 2: Romeo’s an expert at his craft,
Impressed the ladies as he winks and laughs,
Wondering which prospect will land on his arm,
Hands out flattery, oozes with charm!
Verse 3: Tappin’ his heel and tippin’ his glass, finds the ladies, gets lost in the brass,
Must be a regular as he works the room, drunk on martinis and scents of perfume.
Chorus: Ooh, Casanova, we got your angle, we spot your pitch and the bait you dangle,
Gotcha pegged from a mile away, feasting your sights on enticing gourmet!
Outro: Sax takes the floor, slides low and climbs high,
Mocking Romeo’s predictable sighs, laughing in blue notes, his confidence in doubt,
Drifts sadly out the door, til the night fades out.
