LYRIC FOR SALE

By Rich DeMott

I’m searching, I’m seeking
---I’m trying to heal this feeling, this feeling.
What it is I’m looking for,
they don’t sell in the hardware store.
Milk and bread for my soul
---try to fill up this great, big hole.

I had your love,
I had your love for a little while
and most of the time, it made me smile.
You moved on about a million miles,
left me alone and I’m growing wild, growing wild.
I haven’t moved on quite myself. My heart is high,
but it’s high on a shelf.
It was not the way you say it was;
I guess that’s just what your hurt does,
what your hurt does.
How do two from trauma past,
How do they make love last?
How do we let go of our brutal past?

The sand and the sun and the moon and the sea;
they all ask about you and me.
They all ask about you and me.
What will be was meant to be
---the hardest thing was to set you free, set you free.
I set you free, I set you free.
But I had your love, I had your love.
---I remember---I---had---your---love.
