LYRIC FOR SALE

By Paul Pratt

Verse 1
I found you in my storybook
Illustrated and animated
One look is all it took
I was on the plain
In the rain in Spain
Beyond allegories concepts
Fantasy and fresh ideas
I understand childhood fable magic
Runs deeper than it appears
Chorus
You may dance through the cracks
Attack Mad Max
Romance Cleopatra
Until the aliens come back
But you cannot deny
The truth and the lie
Nor overlook
The eye in the sky
Writes in the storybook for
You and I
Verse 2
There we were
Children together
Hansel and Gretel
Alice and Mad hatter
The mystery escaped
I threw my cape
To cover the puddle
You my queen took the trouble
To free me from the villainous toad
Who came in from the cold
We left on the road
Yet the theatre remains
Filled with color code epic
Fairytales and
Criminal novel bloodstains
Bridge
As we walk the leopards
In the snow
You and I know
We never can say goodbye
Verse 3
I saw you again
You did not age
On another page
We were in love
In a time of war
Oliver Twist was asking for more
Fenimore Cooper and a Mohican family
Dancing to a romantic score
Light covered your flashing eyes
Doctor Strangelove offered fascination
Sergeant Pepper consolidated imagination
We travelled through time
To the East where
Storybook lines rewind
Chorus
You may dance through the cracks
Attack Mad Max
Romance Cleopatra
Until the aliens come back
But you cannot deny
The truth and the lie
Nor overlook
The eye in the sky
Writes in the storybook for
You and I
