The New Me Will

I want to move on but I don't know how,
All my life I've struggled to allow,
Myself to move on,
It's very strange phenomenon,
The shadows I've faced,
Have now been erased,
I look at the mirror, trying to see who I am now,
The heavy weight of yesterday lifting off my brow.
But the echo of the old days still lingers on,
A quiet phantom waiting for the safety of the dawn.
I’m running from the memory of time I used to waste,
Leaving every bitter thing exactly where it's placed.
Drugs was once a thing I used to run to with my old crew,
To get rid of the feelings I was so familiar to,
The burdens on my shoulders no longer are welcome,
So I'm going to tell them,
Where to get off,
Some people may scoff,
At the life I've lived,
But I’m taking back the choices that I have
missed
And I am breaking through the static, breaking through the dark,
Fanning every ember 'til it turns into a spark.
I don't have all the answers, don't know where the road will go,
But I'm stepping out of shadows that I used to know.
Yeah, the phantom’s getting quiet, the storm is finally still,
If the old me couldn't save me... then the new me will.
I’m building a future on the ground where I fell,
Breaking the bars of my own personal hell.
The old crew is distant, a ghost in the past,
I finally found a truth that is built to last.
No more self-sabotage, no more playing the part,
I’m rewriting the rhythm of my own beating heart.
And it hurts to let go, yeah, it cuts to the bone,
To realize you have to walk this valley alone.
But the pain that I feel is the price of the cure,
For the first time in years, my intentions are pure.
I am standing my ground, I am ready to fight,
Turning my back on the endless night
