LYRIC FOR SALE

By John Lynch

He waits by the door like he knows his name
Means more than just being called
Tail wagging like forgiveness
Before the man says anything at all

Riding shotgun in an old truck
Head out in the evening wind
Two hearts rolling down a backroad
One man and his faithful friend

Some love don’t need many words
Some prayers come with muddy paws
Sometimes God sends four legs running
To show what loyal love is for

There’s a bond between a man and his dog
That time can never steal
A Quiet kind of holy love
That only hearts can feel

Through the good days and the hard ones
Through the laughter and the scars
We’re a dog’s best friend for their whole life
But they’re only here for a moment of ours

He’s there when the world gets heavy
When the man don’t say a thing
Just lays down right beside him
Like he knows what comfort means

He don’t care about the money
The mistakes the past the pride
He just sees the man he loves
And stays there by his side

That kind of love feels close to Heaven
Faithful simple true
Like God wrapped grace in fur and eyes
And sent it walking next to you

There’s a bond between a man and his dog
That time can never steal
A Quiet kind of holy love
That only hearts can feel

Through the good days and the hard ones
Through the laughter and the scars
We’re a dog’s best friend for their whole life
But they’re only here for a moment of ours

So love him while he’s running
Love him while he’s slow
Love him through the gray around his face
And the years that start to show

Because one day that leash gets lighter
And the house feels way too still
But the love he left behind him
Is the kind time never kills

There’s a bond between a man and his dog
That time can never steal
A Quiet kind of holy love
That only hearts can feel

Through the good days and the hard ones
Through the laughter and the scars
We’re a dog’s best friend for their whole life
But they’re only here for a moment of ours

God gives us love in many ways
Some leave pawprints on our hearts
We’re a dog’s best friend for their whole life
But they’re only here for a moment of ours

So thank God for the loyal ones
For the love that never parts
Some angels don’t have wings at all
Some leave pawprints on our hearts
