What We Ought to Be
By Kiasha Pettigrew
I don't want to be a hero
But that don't make me a villain
Saving everybody gets old
When they cause their own destruction
And when the dominoes fall
you'll be left to carry it all
I'm not your hero
I'm just a man
I don't need to be worshipped
For doin what I can
Don't have a Spirit of cowardice
It's worse than the evilest of things
but I'm not your hero
just what we ought to be
I will never be a coward
Sacrificing to save myself
Villainy, although tempting
Is more work than payout
I'm on the frontlines of love
Just trying to make it through
So when the dominoes fall
Carry me out too
Although I'm not your hero
I can't save myself
Not one to be worshipped
Just one like yourself
Don't have a Spirit of cowardice
It's worse than the evilest of things
But I'm not your hero
I'm just what we ought to be
What we ought to be×3
