A LEGACY LIVES ON
By Daniel Fuller, USA Ret
The old warrior on his bed,
looked into her tearful eyes and said,
"I’m embarking on my final mission,
please don't weep,
my anointed Angels wait for me in the sky high above.”
At dawn's embrace, the Angels descend,
Guiding him on his journey's end.
A silent warrior, his battles ceased,
To dwell with Angels in eternal peace.
With honor pledged, he answered the call,
Joining the brave, now standing tall.
In hearts, their sacrifice engraved,
For freedom's light, the path they paved.
The rifles' echo honors the brave,
As Angels carry him past the grave.
A warrior's soul ascends on high,
His legacy shines bright beneath the sky.
At dawn's embrace, the Angels descend,
Guiding him on his journey's end.
A silent warrior, his battles ceased,
To dwell with Angels in eternal peace."
Under the banner of stars and stripes, he rests,
A warrior's courage put to the test.
His soul ascends to celestial heights,
A legacy enduring in eternal light.
The flag, now folded with reverent grace,
Marks his journey to a timeless place.
His spirit now soars where Angels sing,
A legacy eternal, on golden wings.
The rifles blaze a parting sound,
Their echoes rolling far and profound.
The Angels guide a warrior home,
To rest where endless legacies roam.”
Rifles echo, a solemn goodbye,
Under a flag where memories lie.
Angels guide him with grace untold,
His mission complete, his legacy bold."
As daylight breaks and Angels descend,
They carry her warrior to journeys' end.
His battles are over, his story remains,
A legacy enduring through joy and pain.
Though tears still fall, her heart will know,
His legacy lights the path below.
