On a cold Nebraska day a man lay dying
He'd tried to stop the gang that came to town
And by his side his wife is gently crying
In a hail of dust and noise they gunned him down
So she slipped away in the shadows of the evening
Vowing vengeance on the men who took her man
Surviving on what food the ground could offer
She tracked them down and prepared to take her stand

Armed only with the rifle that he left her
Every footstep brought her vengeance closer still
As the bitter wind bit hard against her pale face
She steeled her heart and readied for the kill
They had no idea the ghost was on them
Till the bullets tore right through them one by one
They never knew who it was that found them
But they paid the price for what it was they'd done

As she rode her horse home through the bitter winter
Her grief and justice swirling with the wind
She'd turned her sorrow into retribution
And she’d made them wish to God they’d never sinned
Her vengeance took she allowed herself to soften
The child inside was growing she could see
Life for them would now be unforgiving
Cos in the wild, wild west are you ever free
