Born with a fragile heart,
Dominga grew up in poverty in a small town
At 17, she left for the big city,
working as a waitress to survive
She became a mother of two boys,
But it was her sister who raised them,
While she provided

The view from the peak is more appreciated after the climb

Her sons migrated even farther
Through their eyes, Dominga saw the world
Cooking on a military ship near Iraq,
Where war fueled an empire’s economy
They returned, carrying the weight of addiction,
Yet she remained proud as they fought to recover
She lived to see herself become a grandmother

The view from the peak is more appreciated after the climb

This morning, Dominga passed
Her sons cannot be by her side
They cannot leave home
