LYRIC FOR SALE

By Zap Gun

On a train I'm travelling overground,
feeling tired my head begins to pound.
Send an e-mail, going with the flow,
watch the traffic on the road below.

In the London, in the London rain,
in the London rain, in the London rain...

Corner store in Docklands stop for food,
songs I'm playing elevate my mood.
Lit up water, metal spiderwebs,
happy just to follow where I'm led.

In the London, in the London rain,
in the London rain, in the London rain...

Headlights blinding, Blackfriars underpass,
in a taxi, memory's broken glass,
showing pictures that vibrate then fade,
infiltrate the luminous parade.

In the London, in the London rain,
in the London rain, in the London rain...

Cardboard shelter, pain I can't relieve,
drop some change, am humbled to receive,
words that hold no malice and no guile,
'Thank you brother', permeating smile.

In the London, in the London rain,
in the London rain, in the London rain...

Vauxhall Bridge, the river darkly shines,
murky waves that form obscure designs,
lead the eye to ornaments that gleam,
sound and faces conjured in a dream.

In the London, in the London rain,
in the London rain, in the London rain...

Midnight train, defying solid ground,
window-ghosts and darkness all around.
Send a WhatsApp, my mind running slow,
sowing seeds of words I hope will grow.

In the London, in the London rain,
in the London rain, in the London rain...
