BEND
By Emma C
I've lost you again
To your unfinished bend.
You wear the mark on your arm,
Like it's a trophy you've won.
You steal the sleep from your eyes,
And poison your mind,
Into believing you're fine,
But you're still running behind.
You cross your heart
And hope to die,
Stick a needle in your eye
Or in your thigh
Or in your vein
Coz it still feels the same,
And it's taking the pain
Away from the price you will pay.
Lick the blood from the cut,
So the wound don't show up,
End every sentence with but
In this tired cover up.
And every sample you take
Won't replace yesterday's,
And the higher you get
The higher you pay.
You take the tongue in your mouth,
And cut it in half,
All the words are so jumbled,
That the truth can't get out.
So you fumble the steel,
To find something that's real,
Until you're reeling in a feeling,
That's so nearly unreal.
Spin up your web,
But all your tracks have dead ends,
And all the things that you catch,
Are just a path to your end.
Your Mother, your Brothers,
Your Sisters, your Child,
Can't see beyond,
The black of your eyes.
This constant admission
Of your troublesome mind,
Would be so more palatable,
If your body didn't lie.
Every note in your throat,
Every poor formed disguise,
Dispels every theory
That you'll be "just fine"
And every line that you're crossing
And every spoon that you bend,
Ain't telekinesis,
But just a back arching bend.
This rendering wretchedness,
This impending restlessness,
Can't guide you away,
From your ongoing impetuousness.
This tongue tied deceptiveness,
On this train wreck of emptiness,
Won't keep you in loveliness,
Just a bone crushing emptiness,
And as you wait for the end of it,
There ain't no getting out of it,
Just a hollow destructiveness,
As you slide in the rest of it.
