When I was trekking in Afghanistan
I found myself talking to a medicine-man
He took some herbs and mixed them with some wine
He called it Hubba Hubba and it tasted divine
So listen up people while I sing my song
And try a little Hubba Hubba when it’s all going wrong

My friend Johnny had been up all night
Drinking 20-20 till the morning light
When he finally took himself to bed
He woke up with a firecracker in his head
His hands were shaking and his face was blue
But then a little Hubba Hubba he was good as new

Mr Brown was in a terrible state
He took his honey-honey on a special date
When they got back she said, “I’ll be upstairs,
Why don’t you come up and we’ll play musical chairs”
He said “I can’t honey cos I feel uptight”
But then a little Hubba Hubba he was going all night

Grandma Riley was a hundred and four
She thought she was knockin on a heaven’s door
Down with a fever and confined to bed
With every known infirmity from A to Z
The doctor said “she’s not gonna survive”
But then a little Hubba Hubba she was dancing a jive

Hubba Hubba

In every person’s life they have a soulmate
Someone who’s there to share the joy and pain
To catch you if you stumble
To hold you when you crumble
And to put the bits together once again

You have always trusted and believed in me
Supported me in everything I do
Now one thing’s guaranteed
If there’s anything you need
I’ll be right here to do the same for you

Oh, I don’t know what I’ll do without you
I’ll be beside you till your final breath
If you could only swear you’re not going anywhere
But you can’t, and that scares me half to death

There doesn’t even have to be a reason
If you ever need me just pick up the phone
I can’t take away
What you’re suffering today
But you’ll never have to face it on your own

I’m losing you and that scares me half to death

That Scares Me Half To Death

When I saw an angel’s face through the void of cyberspace
Nothing more than pixels on a screen
But after talking for a while, I fell for that amazing smile
And thought about the distance in between

We grew closer every day, but you were half a world away
Then I heard the news that broke my heart
We can never meet because of different ways and different laws
So we must stay a thousand miles apart

Every day
My heart is grieving
I can feel you though you’re miles away from here
And I pray
You keep believing
Somehow we’ll make those miles disappear

Why does it seem so unfair, seeing people everywhere
Fall in love and spend their lives together
So it is and so it seems that we can only meet in dreams
Praying that it will not be forever

For today
That’s how it has to be
The oceans move to the beating of our hearts
Break away
And come to me
That’s when the dreaming ends and the future starts

Please believe me
Someday we’ll make those miles disappear

World's Apart

You couldn’t make a masterpiece; you don’t know where to start
Like one of Tolkien’s fantasies or Reubens’ works of art
Your talent and your sentiments are half a world apart
Cos you’ve never ever had a broken heart

The moment that they leave you, the words take on more weight
Despair and desperation bring new colours to the plate
And if you’ve never been there, you can’t appreciate
How much beauty can your suffering create

But you’re the one who does the leaving, the one who disappears
The one who packs their bags and flies the nest
The broken hearts you leave are your treasured souvenirs
And you leave the masterpieces to the rest

A brand-new empty canvas with nothing underneath
Brand-new empty pages, with no story overleaf
Devoid of aspiration and devoid of self-belief
New masterpieces forming from the grief

But you’re the one who does the leaving, the one who disappears
The one who packs their bags and flies the nest
The broken hearts you leave are your treasured souvenirs
And you leave the masterpieces to the rest
