Like the breeze upon your face
Like the glistening in my children's eyes
Like all the boots I wore out for all us
Just trying to get by
and now you ask me
Who am I
Well I dream of the summer we first met
That fire in our eyes
Knowing the sunrise would never forget
What we did last night
And still you ask me everyday
Who am I
Well I am the one
Who is there for you
No matter how dark or light
And I am the one who cares for you
The last glove in your fight
But who am I
Who am I

Who Am I

You called me
Pretending to be a friend
Like I would not remember
The last time you needed me
So when I answered your call
I simply knew I was all
You really had
And then I did it again
Pretended like you
That we were really friends
Oh son what could I do...what would I do
Again for you
But over and over again
Searching for a friend
That would finally come through
Oh why do I always
Put my faith in you
Every time you get into my mind
It is like you know me
Like you can show me
What I have left inside
Then you let me down again
And I go searching for another friend
To teach the lesson I learned back then
To be a man of your word
Look victory in the eye
To do what you say
And say what you do
Because doing means more than trying
And a heart wasn't meant for lying
And a friendship ain't worth crying
Over anymore
Yet still my friend
My door is open to you
To be a man of your word
To look victory in the eye
And to do what you say
And to say what you do
Because you know
Doing means more than trying
And a heart wasn't made for lying
And a friendship ain't worth crying
Over anymore

Anymore

The day I lost your sunlight
All the birds were grounded
And colors disappeared

The earth stood still
Overfilled
By the flood of the ravens tears

Nowhere to land
Nowhere to fly
Hovering in between

What once was light
Now the darkest night
The world has ever seen

How will I ever fly again
And test my wings against the wind
In such a blackened sky

How will I ever fly again
without the sun...is this the end
The ravens final cry

Ravens Final Cry

Every time I see her face...I have to look the other way
Cause if I don't...All I wanna do...Is drink my troubles away

Her picture used to grace my wall
Until I finally had to take it down
Now every time I see that empty space
It reminds me she is not around

I still don't know what I did wrong
I guess I never will
But one more beer and another sad song
Should be enough to say how I really feel

That every time I see her face...I have to look the other way
Cause if I don't...All I wanna do...Is drink my troubles away

I've heard the wisdom in every bottle
Could be a good reason to drink it dry
And that the truth isn't hard to swallow
When you're washing down a lie

But how did it ever come to this
Where did I go so wrong
One minute I was holding onto her
And the next minute she was gone

Now every time I see her face...I have to look the other way
Cause If I don't...All I wanna do...Is drink my troubles away

Yeah...Every time I see her face...I have to look the other way
Cause if I don't...All I wanna do...Is drink my troubles away

Every Time I See Her Face

With this ring...I thee wed
These six words...I have said
But four more words...are in my head
Honey...yes...I...do

I promise you...these two things
You're the only song...my heart will sing
And I will sing it until...the end of time
With every ounce of energy
In...this...heart...of...mine

And if tomorrow the sun...does not rise
I will find a way...to fix the sky
You know...that's what I will do
So you can believe in me
Like...I...believe...in...you

Oh...With this ring...I thee wed
These six words...I have said
But four more words...are in my head
Honey...say...I...do

And I will love you until...the end of time
With every ounce of energy
In...this...heart..of...mine

Oh...With this ring...I thee wed
These six words...I have said
But four more words...are in my head
Honey...I...love...you

Four More Words

(Verse 1)
Could she be my heaven on earth
Or is it foolish...to be feeling this way
But I've known it...since the moment
I first saw her
And ever since...it hasn't gone away
Like a fever...she struck me
By complete surprise
Now every time I look...into those big blue eyes
Something melts me like the sunshine...melts the ice

(Chorus)
But how will she know what I feel...If I don't tell her
How will she know what I feel...If I don't say a word
How will I know if she's real...If I don't ask her
If she could be my heaven on earth

(Verse 2)
Oh...Could I be her heaven on earth
I often wonder...if she sees me this way
And if she's known it...since the moment
I first saw her
This feeling I have...that hasn't gone away
Like a fever...how she struck me
By complete surprise
And now every time I look...into her big blue eyes
Something melts me like the sunshine...melts the ice

(Chorus)
But how will she know what I feel...if I don't tell her
How will she know what I feel...if I don't say a word
How will I know if she's real...if I don't ask her
If I could be her heaven on earth

(Outro)
Oh how will she know what I feel...if I don't tell her
How will she know what I feel...if I don't say a word
And how will i know if she's real...if I don't ask her
If she would be my heaven on earth

Heaven On Earth

Angels never die
But sometimes they just fly away
Off into the sky to build a brand new star
That will shine again on another day

Oh Mary...I know where you are...by far
Like the sun in the sky
You are my brightest star

And I know you are flying high
Somewhere up in the sky
Playing music with the angels
On a harp with silver strings

Oh it's the place I want to go
With you where I want to be
When God gives me my wings
And my new guitar with silver strings

(Verse 2)
You said heaven is for real
An eden without goodbyes
And didn't you always say
We'd be together forever in paradise

Oh Mary...I know where you are...by far
Like the sun in the sky
You are my brightest star

And as I see you shining bright
Above me day and night
Playing music in the heavens
Where angels never die

Oh it's the place I want to go
With you where I want to be
When God gives me my wings
And tells me I can fly

(Outro)
Oh Mary...I know where you are...by far
Like the sun in the sky...you are my brightest star

Above me day and night
I can see your star so bright
High up in the heavens
Where angels never die

And it's the place I want to go
With you where I want to be
When God gives me my wings
And tells me I can fly

Where Angels Never Die

I'm a little bent...but I ain't broke
Won't take much...to fix this spoke
You know by now...one thing I've learned
It's just a wheel...and it still turns

I'm going down the road...who needs brakes
I've seen every bend ...this heart can take
Time to move on...don't want to be late
So you go left...and I'll go straight

And I'll see you on the other side
Yeah I'll see you on the other side

I gave love a chance...the seed was sowed
Had some fun...but it didn't grow
Life is short...and the road is long
No time to waste...so I'm moving on

Oh I'm a little bent...but I ain't broke
Won't take much...to fix this spoke
You know by now...another thing I learned
Don't play with fire...and you won't get burned

I'm going down the road...who needs brakes
I've seen every bend...this heart can take
Time to move on...don't want to be late
So you go left...and I'll go straight

And I'll see you on the other side
Yeah I'll see you on the other side

Don't you cry for me...and I won't for you
Where I'm headed next...the sky is blue
You can stay right...and I'll stay wrong
But I just can't stay...where I don't belong

I'm going down the road...who needs brakes
I've seen every bend...this heart can take
Time to move on...don't want to be late
So you go left...and I'll go straight

And I'll see you on the other side
Yeah I'll see you on the other side

Oh I'm a little bent...but I ain't broke
Won't take much...to fix this spoke
Time to move on...don't want to be late
So you go left...and I'll go straight

And I'll see you on the other side
Yeah I'll see you on the other side

See You On The Other Side

About Me

Bio

I love to write. I come up with things out of the blue. Mainly the hook lines and chorus come first and then I add the story. It has been a lifelong hobby of mine beginning as a child in school. I especially like to write poems and lyrics that will make the reader or listener stop and think for a bit. I try to enter their space with hopes that I may see the reflection of a "yeah, I get it" response. I do play a little bit of guitar but I am not a musician. I write my song lyrics with a beat and melody in my head. If I could only produce the sound, well, I believe I'd have a few number ones on the charts by now! I do love to share them with whomever will listen. Those that do usually say "Man that's a good one, you should do something with that." And they tell me the name of a well known artist that could. Many of my lyrics already have an artist or style in mind, but again I need the music. I've been told most songs start with that, and then the lyrics are added. So I've been doing it backwards for the longest time. Still, I continue on. So if any of you folks at Songbay would like to hook up and produce some killer finished products, my lyrics are crying for your ideas, your voices and your sound. My lifelong dream is to hear a song I wrote on the radio. I'll be 63 come this June, so I reckon it's time to "Git er Done." If you'd like to work with me, give me a shout. Thank you, and many blessings to all. Mike
