Angels never die
But sometimes they just fly away
Off into the sky to build a brand new star
That will shine again on another day

Oh Mary...I know where you are...by far
Like the sun in the sky
You are my brightest star

And I know you are flying high
Somewhere up in the sky
Playing music with the angels
On a harp with silver strings

Oh it's the place I want to go
With you where I want to be
When God gives me my wings
And my new guitar with silver strings

(Verse 2)
You said heaven is for real
An eden without goodbyes
And didn't you always say
We'd be together forever in paradise

Oh Mary...I know where you are...by far
Like the sun in the sky
You are my brightest star

And as I see you shining bright
Above me day and night
Playing music in the heavens
Where angels never die

Oh it's the place I want to go
With you where I want to be
When God gives me my wings
And tells me I can fly

(Outro)

I'm a little bent...but I ain't broke
Won't take much...to fix this spoke
You know by now...one thing I've learned
It's just a wheel...and it still turns

I'm going down the road...who needs brakes
I've seen every bend ...this heart can take
Time to move on...don't want to be late
So you go left...and I'll go straight

And I'll see you on the other side
Yeah I'll see you on the other side

I gave love a chance...the seed was sowed
Had some fun...but it didn't grow
Life is short...and the road is long
No time to waste...so I'm moving on

Oh I'm a little bent...but I ain't broke
Won't take much...to fix this spoke
You know by now...another thing I learned
Don't play with fire...and you won't get burned

I'm going down the road...who needs brakes
I've seen every bend...this heart can take
Time to move on...don't want to be late
So you go left...and I'll go straight

And I'll see you on the other side
Yeah I'll see you on the other side

Don't you cry for me...and I won't for you
Where I'm headed next...the sky is blue
You can stay right...and I'll stay wrong
But I just can't stay...where I don't belong

I'm going down the road...who needs brakes
I've seen every bend...this heart can take

See You On The Other Side

(Intro)
As you gaze into the mirror
The reflection becomes clearer
When that look in your eyes that never lies
Starts looking right back at you
Taking you back in time
Through the portals of your mind
And you find yourself asking them
What they think you should do
(Bridge)
Then they answer you from deep inside
The place in you where truth resides
And they leave no room for compromise
On these questions that you must decide
(Verse)
What is standing right in front of you
That you refuse to see?
What is standing in between you
And where you want to be?
What is in your way...what would you say
Is holding you behind?
Why do you ask us what we see
Then pretend that we are blind?
(Chorus)
Just ask these eyes...(echo) your own eyes
These eyes that have never lied to you
Just ask these eyes...(echo) your own eyes
These eyes that have always told the truth
Just ask these eyes...(echo) your own eyes
What are we asking you?
Just ask these eyes...(echo) your own eyes
And we will tell you what you need to do
(Verse)
What is it you are looking for
That you cannot seem to find?
Why is it you keep asking us
These same questions all the time?
Can't you see us in the mirror
Looking right back at you?
Why do you always disregard
What your own eyes are telling you?
(Chorus)
Just ask these eyes...(echo) your own eyes
These eyes that have never lied to you
Just ask these eyes...(echo) your own eyes

Your Own Eyes

Intro
I lived for a spell in the city...But it never really felt like home
Too damn loud and too many crowds...All addicted to their fancy phones
So what started out as an idea...Soon became set in stone
That if I let folks think I was crazy...They'd leave this country boy alone

Chorus
Yeah...If you let em' think you're crazy...They'll leave you alone
That's the way I like it...The way I want to be known
And I did it all on purpose...A long time ago
When I moved back to the country...I let my neighbors know

Verse 1
I ain't lookin' for no problems...I've come here to live in peace
But if your wagon wheel starts squeakin'...Please go buy some grease
Because I came back to the country...To leave that noise behind
I was fed up with the traffic...And hearing sirens all the time

Now I'm normally a docile man...But I've been known to blow off steam
So best you mind your own business...If you don't want me to get mean
Just don't ever try to cross my fence...Without an invitation
Unless you're looking for a ride to the hospital...Or a ninety day vacation

Chorus
Yeah...If you let em' think you're crazy...They'll leave you alone
That's the way I like it...The way I want to be known
And I did it all on purpose...A long time ago
When I moved back to the country...I let my neighbors know

Verse 2
I got guns in every corner...Dead critters on the wall
I got a ball bat in my pickup...Like the guy on Walking Tall
I got bear spray in the console...A machete behind the seat
Uncle Henry in my pocket...And steel toes on my feet

I got razor wire on the fence posts...Signs on all my gates
That say beware of the guard dogs...Or don't and meet your fate
And I don't need nobody...Coming here snoopin' around
Because that's the whole damn reason...I moved out of town

Chorus
Yeah...If you let em' think you're crazy...They'll leave you alone
That's the way I like it...The way I want to be known
And I did it all on purpose...A long time ago
When I moved back to the country...And let the neighbors know

Verse 3
I ain't lookin' for no problems...I've come here to live in peace
But if your wagon wheel starts squeakin'...Please go buy some grease
Because I came back to the country...To leave that noise behind
So if you hear what I am telling you...We will get along just fine

And I believe in live and let live...I just hope you can do the same
But it don't mean a thing to me...If you even know my name
I didn't come out here to visit you...Or looking for a friend
I came back to the country to be left alone...And I ain't moving again

Outro
Yeah...If you let em' think you're crazy...They'll leave you alone
That's the way I like it...The way I want to be known
And I did it all on purpose...A long time ago
When I came back to the country...And made the country my home

Let Em' Think You're Crazy

Home is where the sun finds
The window of my room
Meadowlarks in the morning
And robins in the afternoon

A place beside the river
With a catfish on the line
Where old memories congregate
To take me back in time

Papa's at the rail yard
He doubled out again today
Mama's hanging up the clothes
To dry the old fashion way

Miss Mary took the kids to school
Now she'll spend the day alone
Praying for this war to end
And bring me safely home

While I'm halfway around the world
Just as sure as green grass grows
I know if I make it out of here alive
The lawn will be needing mowed

Oh Home is where a soldier goes
When he leaves the battlefield
Home is where in God we trust
When Jesus takes the wheel

Home is where the family
Work together to get things done
Where no one has any more or less
Because everything is everyone's

And Home is where my heart resides
In a blanket warm and kind
Yet no matter where I find myself
Home brings me back...every single time

To cookouts in the back yard
Fireworks on the fourth of July
An american flag waving in the wind
For all who have sacrificed

Anniversaries and weddings
Barn dances on Friday night
A Saturday parade for the fallen
Who has paid the ultimate price

Someone is always having a birthday
Or a game to watch and cheer them on
Singing in the choir on Sunday
At the church for Father John

Oh Home is where a soldier goes
When he leaves the battlefield
Home is where in God we trust
When Jesus takes the wheel

And Home is where the family
Pray together to get things done
Where no one has any more or less
Because everything is everyone's

Oh home is where my heart resides
In a blanket warm and kind
Yet no matter where I find myself
Home brings me back...every single time

Home

I'm crying on the inside
Sighing on the outside
And missing you in between

Yeah...I'm inside out
All because of you
I'm inside out
Don't know what to do

Dark clouds deep inside my heart
Out here the sun is blinding me
Every time I close my eyes
Your face is all I see

Can't seem to get you
Out of my head
It's even harder
To get out of bed

And all I want to do is scream

Oh girl
I'm crying on the inside
Sighing on the outside
And missing you in between

(Verse 2)

Yeah I'm inside out
All because of you
I'm inside out
Don't know what to do

I've been patient now
For two long years
Waiting for a change

But every time
I look at the sky
All I see is rain

Oh baby I'm inside out
All because of you
I'm inside out
Don't know what to do

And every time I see it rain
It reminds me of you
Tears falling from my eyes
Right out of the blue

Oh baby I'm inside out
And it's all because of you
Oh baby I'm inside out
Tell me what to do

Dark clouds deep inside my heart
But out here the sun is blinding me
Every time I close my eyes
Your face is all I see

I'm missing you on the inside
Letting go on the outside
And loving you in between

Can't seem to get you
Out of my head
And all I want to do is scream

I'm crying on the inside
Sighing on the outside
And missing you in between

Oh baby I'm inside out
All because of you
Oh baby I'm inside out
Tell me what to do

Can't seem to get you
Out of my head
It's even harder
To get out of bed

And all I want to do is scream

(Chant)

Oh baby I'm inside out
It's all because of you
Oh baby I'm inside out
Tell me what to do

Dark clouds deep
Inside my heart
But out here
The sun is blinding me
Every time I close my eyes
Your face is all I see

Oh baby...I'm inside out
All because of you
Oh baby I'm inside out
Tell me what to do

(Fade)

Oh baby I'm Inside out
And it's all because of you...

Inside Out

(Intro)
I want to sing my song for Jesus
I'm sure He would agree
I don't need a voice like "Elvis"
Cause if I did...He'd have given one to me

But what I do have ...is this old guitar
With a twisted neck and worn out strings
And a pocketful of words I've been keeping
If I ever got the chance to sing

So I'm playing my song for Jesus
Though it might be out of key
It won't take a band like "Roy Rogers"
For Him to listen to me

(Verses)
Oh Lord...You know I've always dreamed of
Late nights...bright lights...and standing on a stage
But most of mine's been spent alone...except for the whiskey
Singing songs about all the mistakes I've made

I've broken a few commandments
While drinking away my pain
Though I didn't break any on purpose
There's still no one but me to blame

So Jesus...please forgive me
Help me to forgive myself
For not playing my hand the best I could
When all the cards were dealt

For having that nasty habit
Of calling out that "I'm all in"
Then losing the stack in front of me
For a reason to start drinking again

So I'm singing out loud...how sorry I am
I'm sure you would agree
After wasting so much of your precious time
All those years you were waiting for me

But if I'd known you then...like I know you now
I'd have paid more attention to you
And I'd have never done...any of those crazy things
That you used to watch me do

Now getting old...was what used to scare me the most
Cause I knew...all things in this world would end
Then the day I heard the story...about God and You
The Holy Ghost became my friend

So thank you Jesus...for being my Lord
For letting me make amends
For being the only hand I've ever won
When I cried out...and said that "I'm all in"

For letting me know eternity
Is not that far away
And for dying on that cross for me
As redemption for all those mistakes I've made

(Outro)
Now since there's really no way to end this song
I'm sure you would agree
I didn't need a voice like "Elvis" to sing it for you
Cause if I did...you'd have given one to me

And this old guitar...with a twisted neck and worn out strings
Might have been a little out of key
But it didn't take a band like "Roy Rogers"
For you to listen to me

Because all I've ever needed...is your love
And your forgiveness of all my sins
So thank you again...My Sweet Lord Jesus
For believing in me...when I cried out...and said that "I'm all in"

My Song For Jesus

(Intro)
I'm not the kind of man
Who believes in one night stands
So if you're gonna let me hold your hand
I'm not gonna want to let it go

I don't have any polished lines
Or tell half truths just to pass the time
And my heart's not a mountain you'll need to climb
I just want to let you know

(Bridge)
I like the way you wear your jeans
I like the way you fit in all my dreams
I like the words you say and what they mean
And I like watching new love grow

So I'm telling you now...

(Chorus)
If you're gonna let me hold your hand
I'm never gonna let it go
No...I'm never gonna let it go
And there's not a more important thing
That you'll ever have to know
Than if you're gonna let me hold your hand
I'm never gonna let it go

(Verse 2)
I'm not the kind of man
Who will pretend to understand
That the reason you want to let me hold your hand
Is just for a part in my show

Cause baby I've been around the world
I've played a lot of parts
With a lot of girls
And if there's one thing they all know

It's that...I'm not the kind of man
Who believes in one night stands
And if they ever let me hold their hand
I wasn't gonna let it go

And I don't have any polished lines
I don't tell half truths just to pass the time
And my heart's not a mountain you'll need to climb
But I really want to let you know

(Bridge)
I like the way you wear your jeans
I like the way you fit in all my dreams
I like the words you say and what they mean
And I like watching new love grow

So I'm telling you now...

(Chorus)
If you're gonna let me hold your hand

No...I'm never gonna let it go
And there's not a more important thing
That you'll ever have to know
Than if you're gonna let me hold your hand
I'm never gonna let it go

(Outro)
Cause I like the way you wear your jeans
I like the way you fit in all my dreams
I like the words you say and what they mean
And I like watching new love grow

And the most important thing
That you'll ever have to know
Is that...If you let me hold your hand
I'm never gonna let it go

No...I'm never gonna let it go

Never Let It Go

I got bear spray in the console...A machete behind the seat
Uncle Henry in my pocket...And steel toes on my feet

I got razor wire on the fence posts...Signs on all my gates
That say beware of the guard dogs...Or don't and meet your fate
And I don't need nobody...Coming here snoopin' around
Because that's the whole damn reason...I moved out of town

Chorus
Yeah...If you let em' think you're crazy...They'll leave you alone
That's the way I like it...The way I want to be known
And I did it all on purpose...A long time ago
When I moved back to the country...And let the neighbors know

Verse 3
I ain't lookin' for no problems...I've come here to live in peace
But if your wagon wheel starts squeakin'...Please go buy some grease
Because I came back to the country...To leave that noise behind
So if you hear what I am telling you...We will get along just fine

And I believe in live and let live...I just hope you can do the same
But it don't mean a thing to me...If you even know my name
I didn't come out here to visit you...Or looking for a friend
I came back to the country to be left alone...And I ain't moving again

Outro
Yeah...If you let em' think you're crazy...They'll leave you alone
That's the way I like it...The way I want to be known
And I did it all on purpose...A long time ago
When I came back to the country...And made the country my home

Let Em' Think You're Crazy

Home is where the sun finds
The window of my room
Meadowlarks in the morning
And robins in the afternoon

A place beside the river
With a catfish on the line
Where old memories congregate
To take me back in time

Papa's at the rail yard
He doubled out again today
Mama's hanging up the clothes
To dry the old fashion way

Miss Mary took the kids to school
Now she'll spend the day alone
Praying for this war to end
And bring me safely home

While I'm halfway around the world
Just as sure as green grass grows
I know if I make it out of here alive
The lawn will be needing mowed

Oh Home is where a soldier goes
When he leaves the battlefield
Home is where in God we trust
When Jesus takes the wheel

Home is where the family
Work together to get things done
Where no one has any more or less
Because everything is everyone's

And Home is where my heart resides
In a blanket warm and kind
Yet no matter where I find myself
Home brings me back...every single time

To cookouts in the back yard
Fireworks on the fourth of July
An american flag waving in the wind
For all who have sacrificed

Anniversaries and weddings
Barn dances on Friday night
A Saturday parade for the fallen
Who has paid the ultimate price

Someone is always having a birthday
Or a game to watch and cheer them on
Singing in the choir on Sunday
At the church for Father John

Oh Home is where a soldier goes
When he leaves the battlefield
Home is where in God we trust
When Jesus takes the wheel

And Home is where the family
Pray together to get things done
Where no one has any more or less
Because everything is everyone's

Oh home is where my heart resides
In a blanket warm and kind
Yet no matter where I find myself
Home brings me back...every single time

Home

I'm crying on the inside
Sighing on the outside
And missing you in between

Yeah...I'm inside out
All because of you
I'm inside out
Don't know what to do

Dark clouds deep inside my heart
Out here the sun is blinding me
Every time I close my eyes
Your face is all I see

Can't seem to get you
Out of my head
It's even harder
To get out of bed

And all I want to do is scream

Oh girl
I'm crying on the inside
Sighing on the outside
And missing you in between

(Verse 2)

Yeah I'm inside out
All because of you
I'm inside out
Don't know what to do

I've been patient now
For two long years
Waiting for a change

But every time
I look at the sky
All I see is rain

Oh baby I'm inside out
All because of you
I'm inside out
Don't know what to do

And every time I see it rain
It reminds me of you
Tears falling from my eyes
Right out of the blue

Oh baby I'm inside out
And it's all because of you
Oh baby I'm inside out
Tell me what to do

Dark clouds deep inside my heart
But out here the sun is blinding me
Every time I close my eyes
Your face is all I see

I'm missing you on the inside
Letting go on the outside
And loving you in between

Can't seem to get you
Out of my head
And all I want to do is scream

I'm crying on the inside
Sighing on the outside
And missing you in between

Oh baby I'm inside out
All because of you
Oh baby I'm inside out
Tell me what to do

Can't seem to get you
Out of my head
It's even harder
To get out of bed

And all I want to do is scream

(Chant)

Oh baby I'm inside out
It's all because of you
Oh baby I'm inside out
Tell me what to do

Dark clouds deep
Inside my heart
But out here
The sun is blinding me
Every time I close my eyes
Your face is all I see

Oh baby...I'm inside out
All because of you
Oh baby I'm inside out
Tell me what to do

(Fade)

Oh baby I'm Inside out
And it's all because of you...

Inside Out

About Me

Bio

I love to write. I come up with things out of the blue. Mainly the hook lines and chorus come first and then I add the story. It has been a lifelong hobby of mine beginning as a child in school. I especially like to write poems and lyrics that will make the reader or listener stop and think for a bit. I try to enter their space with hopes that I may see the reflection of a "yeah, I get it" response. I do play a little bit of guitar but I am not a musician. I write my song lyrics with a beat and melody in my head. If I could only produce the sound, well, I believe I'd have a few number ones on the charts by now! I do love to share them with whomever will listen. Those that do usually say "Man that's a good one, you should do something with that." And they tell me the name of a well known artist that could. Many of my lyrics already have an artist or style in mind, but again I need the music. I've been told most songs start with that, and then the lyrics are added. So I've been doing it backwards for the longest time. Still, I continue on. So if any of you folks at Songbay would like to hook up and produce some killer finished products, my lyrics are crying for your ideas, your voices and your sound. My lifelong dream is to hear a song I wrote on the radio. I'll be 63 come this June, so I reckon it's time to "Git er Done." If you'd like to work with me, give me a shout. Thank you, and many blessings to all. Mike
