Verse 1
Under the pale moonlight, where memories reside
We danced in the shadows, with arms open wide
But time slipped away, like sand through my hands
Now I'm standing alone with my dreams made of strands
You whispered sweet nothings, the promise of more
But echoes of silence now knock at my door
The truth hit me hard, like a bolt from above
There ain't no second chance, No second chance at love

Chorus
Oh, we had our moments, the laughter and tears
But love can be fleeting, it can disappear
I gave you my heart, you tore it apart
Now I'm wandering lonely, with a broken heart
No there ain't no parades, no turning back time
Just the sound of your voice, and a hearts silent crime
A story unfinished, like a book on the shelf
There ain't no second chance, No second chance at love

Verse 2
I remember the sunrise, the warmth of your touch
The vows that we made, I believed them so much
But life has a way, of taking what's pure
I thought we had forever, I thought we were sure
Now it feels like a movie, the credits roll fast
A bittersweet ending, a love that couldn't last
The laughter has faded, into the night sky
A tale unfulfilled, just a whispering sigh

Bridge
And every road I travel, I see your face
In every crowded room, I feel out of place
The ghost of our story, haunts me each night
Like stars in the darkness, just out of sight
I pick up the pieces, but they don't fit tight
Searching for solace, under the pale moonlight
With the memories echoing, it feels like a crime
Your Love was a treasure, but it slipped through my rhyme

Outro
So I raise a glass, to the love that ran dry
To the dreams that we painted, now just a goodbye
With a heart that remembers, what once we believed
There ain't no second chance, it's hard to conceive
So here's to the moments, the highs and the lows
With each passing day, the heartbreak still grows
No there ain't no second chances, just lessons to learn
In the ashes of love, it's my heart that still yearns

No Second Chance At Love

I have surrendered it to God
I hope you understand
What is in my heart for you
Is now out of my hands
While I desire to hold you
And a second chance to show you
Who I really am
It's out of my hands
Every time I try to call
When you won't answer me at all
Your silence makes me cry
So I no longer try
It's out of my hands
And it's out of my hands
Every time I think of you
When all I want to do
is to find a way
To make your dreams come true
But it's out of my hands
And it's out of my hands
When I long to lay with you
And love your body the way I do
And I don't want to let you go
Without a second chance to show you
Who I have become
But it's out of my hands
I have done all I can
I have surrendered it to God
And I hope you understand
What is in my heart for you now
Is out of my hands

Out Of My Hands

I thought our love was second chance strong
But looking back I guess I was wrong
For thinking that way
If I could change things now you know that I would
Take back what I said and say something good
That would make you want to stay

But sometimes love doesn't want to play
And only gives you one dance
With no second chance
Before it slips away

So what am I supposed to do here without you
What am I supposed to do
Now that you have moved away
And how am I supposed to live my life without you
When all love will let me do
Is sit here missing you
For the rest of my days

Yeah I thought our love was second chance strong
But one Friday night proved me wrong
For believing that way
If I could change things now you know that I would
Take back what I did and do something good
That would make you want to stay

But sometimes love doesn't want to play
And only gives you one dance
With no second chance
Before it slips away

So what am I supposed to do here without you
What am I supposed to do
Now that you have moved away

No Second Chance

What if I was wrong
For not believing in you
Tell me
Will there be time
For me to change my mind
And when I finally do
Will you hold it against me
When I ask you to dance
Or will you turn me away
And say I had my chance
To be with you
Oh what Will you do
When you finally hear me say
I believe in you

And what if you are wrong
For passing up this song
One last dance One last chance
To be with me where you belong
Will you still hold it against me
When I ask you to dance
Will you still turn me away
And say I had my chance
To be with you where I belong
Oh what Will you do
When you finally hear me say
I'm in love with you

What Will You Do

In a dream I am wandering
Searching for my way back home
So many roads behind me
So many more to roam

Forever going nowhere
The circle of my mind
I may as well be standing still
Than wasting all my time

Life is a circle
It goes round and round
From a tiny seed to the mighty oak
Then acorns on the ground

Life is a circle
And what I leave behind
Will forever be in front of me
Until the end of time

Chasing long gone rainbows
Old friends that once were mine
Who are now so far in front of me
I may never find

Sweet meadows tall and overgrown
Mighty rivers since run dry
But blessed are those memories carved in stone
Not forgotten even if I try

Oh life is a circle
It goes round and round
From a tiny seed to the mighty oak
Then acorns on the ground

Life is a circle
And what I leave behind
Will forever be in front of me
Until the end of time

Like sweet meadows tall and overgrown
Raging rivers since run dry
But blessed are those memories carved in stone
Not forgotten even if I try

Life is a circle....

Life Is A Circle

Like the breeze upon your face
Like the glistening in my children's eyes
Like all the boots I wore out for all us
Just trying to get by
and now you ask me
Who am I
Well I dream of the summer we first met
That fire in our eyes
Knowing the sunrise would never forget
What we did last night
And still you ask me everyday
Who am I
Well I am the one
Who is there for you
No matter how dark or light
And I am the one who cares for you
The last glove in your fight
But who am I
Who am I

Who Am I

You called me
Pretending to be a friend
Like I would not remember
The last time you needed me
So when I answered your call
I simply knew I was all
You really had
And then I did it again
Pretended like you
That we were really friends
Oh son what could I do...what would I do
Again for you
But over and over again
Searching for a friend
That would finally come through
Oh why do I always
Put my faith in you
Every time you get into my mind
It is like you know me
Like you can show me
What I have left inside
Then you let me down again
And I go searching for another friend
To teach the lesson I learned back then
To be a man of your word
Look victory in the eye
To do what you say
And say what you do
Because doing means more than trying
And a heart wasn't meant for lying
And a friendship ain't worth crying
Over anymore
Yet still my friend
My door is open to you
To be a man of your word
To look victory in the eye
And to do what you say
And to say what you do
Because you know
Doing means more than trying
And a heart wasn't made for lying
And a friendship ain't worth crying
Over anymore

Anymore

The day I lost your sunlight
All the birds were grounded
And colors disappeared

The earth stood still
Overfilled
By the flood of the ravens tears

Nowhere to land
Nowhere to fly
Hovering in between

What once was light
Now the darkest night
The world has ever seen

How will I ever fly again
And test my wings against the wind
In such a blackened sky

How will I ever fly again
without the sun...is this the end
The ravens final cry

About Me

Bio

I love to write. I come up with things out of the blue. Mainly the hook lines and chorus come first and then I add the story. It has been a lifelong hobby of mine beginning as a child in school. I especially like to write poems and lyrics that will make the reader or listener stop and think for a bit. I try to enter their space with hopes that I may see the reflection of a "yeah, I get it" response. I do play a little bit of guitar but I am not a musician. I write my song lyrics with a beat and melody in my head. If I could only produce the sound, well, I believe I'd have a few number ones on the charts by now! I do love to share them with whomever will listen. Those that do usually say "Man that's a good one, you should do something with that." And they tell me the name of a well known artist that could. Many of my lyrics already have an artist or style in mind, but again I need the music. I've been told most songs start with that, and then the lyrics are added. So I've been doing it backwards for the longest time. Still, I continue on. So if any of you folks at Songbay would like to hook up and produce some killer finished products, my lyrics are crying for your ideas, your voices and your sound. My lifelong dream is to hear a song I wrote on the radio. I'll be 63 come this June, so I reckon it's time to "Git er Done." If you'd like to work with me, give me a shout. Thank you, and many blessings to all. Mike
