They were lost and all alone
Good news never came their way
Misery seemed here to stay
Hoping lives would start to change
Their work no longer in vain
Time back then would feel so still

Effort made would get nowhere
Money tight, with pockets bare
Everything will change in time
Hard for this to keep in mind
Difficult for them to smile
Every day so many frowns
Wanting things to change so bad
To a life they’d rather have

Why do they walk among us, but can’t see what we see
Why does their hypocrisy, seem to spill out with such glee
Why does their anger, appear to be over trivial news
Why are they so cavalier, when it comes to serious views
Why can’t they see, the constant that they’re doing isn’t working
Why don’t they react, when the problem starts lurking
Why is the entertainer they’ve never met, so important to their lives
Why do they ignore the suffering of the young, with pain in their eyes
Why do they ignore, until the chaos really hits home
Why don’t they spend more time seeing, and less time on their phone
Why do they favor the famous one over the downtrodden
Why do they shut out the one closest to them, who’s feeling rotten
Why is the bad boy the one they look up to the most
Why don’t they ever discuss, mayhem of the youths from coast to coast
Why aren’t they troubled, by the chaos of the world
Why do they dismiss the negative that causes it to painfully unfurl
Why do they choose to follow the lemmings of the crowd
Why can’t they listen more, and not be so disruptive and loud
Why don’t they desire to grow, and not just physically
Why don’t they desire to learn more about the world, and not just be
Why aren’t they more appreciative, of the past sacrificers
Why aren’t they more thankful for what they have, thanks to lost lives
Why do they dismiss the ambitious ones, who are trying to get higher
Why are they much kinder, to the ones with no desire
Why can’t they accept the ones, who dare to be different
Why do they seem to want to create drama and negative incidents
Why can’t they humble themselves, and realize they aren’t always right
Why don’t they understand, it ain’t worth it to always try to pick a fight
Why do they favor style over substance, from many whom they encounter

Hello there, I'm more of an artist (creating digital images, poet and short story writer than anything else).
I thought of and wrote a rant about a subject that is somewhat dear to me, and I thought I'd share it on Songbay to see if there's any interest.
