Alysia Henderson

verse one:
A daughter’s first hero
Is her father’s face
The first love she knows of
Is her mama’s grace

And her first nightmare
She runs to her parent’s room
She snuggles up beside them
To escape the doom

And she doesn’t know
One day she’ll grow up
And want to come home

But then it will be
To late
She’ll take a look behind her
Everything has changed

Chorus:
So why do we rush
To grow up
To pay the bills and stand alone
Can’t time just stop

Cause life won’t last forever
The pain won’t either too
So take a look around you
And enjoy the view

2nd Verse
Your 8th grade basketball game
Your first high school dance
The day you graduate

Your first day of college
The day you fall in love
Your first heart break
The day you got back up

We don’t seem to see
The years passing by
So freely

And by the time we do
We take a look around us
Everything is new

Chorus:
So why did we rush
To grow up
To pay the bills and stand alone
Can’t time just stop

Cause life won’t last forever
The pain won’t either too
So take a look around you
And enjoy…

Bridge
There will be good days
There will be bad
There will be laughter and tears
You’ll never get back

And one day you’ll have
A daughter of your own
You’ll teach her to laugh
You’ll teach her to grow

Last verse/chorus revised

And her first hero
Will be her father’s face
The first love she’ll know of
Will be of your grace

And her first nightmare
She’ll run to your room
She’ll snuggle beside you to escape the doom

You won’t want her to
Grow up
To pay the bills and stand alone
And you’ll want time to stop

Life won’t last forever
So cherish all you can
These moments are a treasure
So live life while you can

Verse one:
I’m searching for answers
Unsaid
I’m searching every corner of
My head

Replaying all our memories
The laughs the tears the harmonies
The good always outweighs
The bad

Chorus:
But I…
Think I
knew
The first time I
saw you

The look in your eyes
Who were inside
You tore down my
pride

And I’ll say this
One more time
I hope I am the last girl
You call mine

Verse two:
I take a breath
And look at you
Your smiling like you always
do

I don’t think you quite understand
The meaning when I say
I have never felt this
way

Chorus:
But I…
Think I
knew
The first time I
saw you

The look in your eyes
Who were inside
You tore down my
Pride

And I’ll say this
One more time
I hope I am the last girl
You call mine

Bridge
Baby trust me
when I say
I know things
could go wrong

But you’re the only guy
The only one
I have written a
Song for

So I am putting my heart
On my sleeve
Praying you don’t
Walk away from me

Chorus:
But I…
Think I
knew
The first time I
saw you

The look in your eyes
Who were inside
You tore down my
Pride

And I’ll say this
One last time
I hope I am the last girl
You call mine

Verse One:
As you
Fall asleep
And you’re thinking
About everything

I can’t help but wonder
What’s running through your head
All the memories
Things you’ve never said

Chorus:
Close your eyes
My love
Don’t be afraid
They’re watching from
Above

They’ll keep you safe
They’ll keep you warm
They have since you
were born

So close your eyes my love
So close your eyes my love

Verse two:
As you start to
Dream
I pray it’s of
Happy things

Where all your wishes
Become reality
And I’ll be waiting here for you
To come back to me

Chorus:
Close your eyes
My love
Don’t be afraid
They’re watching from
Above

They’ll keep you safe
They’ll keep you warm
They have since you
were born

So close your eyes my love
So close your eyes my love
So close your eyes my love

Verse 1:
Rain drops fall
on the window pain
Pictures of us
laying on the floor

I'm hiding from the world
because I don't want to believe
That it could be your time to leave
When you're suppose to be here with me.

Chorus:
I hope you're smiling down on me
And you're proud of the person that I'm trying to be
I hope you're happy up where the angels sing
And I'll be here learning to live, without a piece of me

Verse two:
No one ever teaches you
what to do,
when your world comes crashing
down

When everything goes dark and you're fighting back the tears
and you just can't make a sound
And you're praying for some solid ground.

Chorus:
I hope you're smiling down on me
And you're proud of the person that I'm trying to be
I hope you're happy up where the angels sing
And I'll be here learning to live, without a piece of me

Bridge:
I'm jealous of the man upstairs who gets to be by your side
I'm jealous you found peace, when I'm torn a part inside
I'm jealous of everyone who didn't have to lose you
Who didn't have to feel the pain of saying goodbye to you.

Chorus:
But
I hope you're smiling down on me
And you're proud of the person that I'm trying to be
I hope you're happy up where the angels sing
And I'll be here learning to live, without a piece of me
