THIS AMERICAN DREAM

My Great Uncle served in the Great War
I remember the conversations, it isn’t folk lore
He served in that horrendous scene
He always talked about This American Dream

I grew up in a small many would have never seen
We had no plan, there was no scheme
This is where we grew up, where socialized
It was where the American Dream was first realized

This American Dream is still so real
It’s all about how you think, how you feel
This Dream is all about you, your history, your patriotism
Don’t let people tell you it’s about their hate or criticism

So to preserve this Dream, I did what was asked
Like so many before me, I did my task
Like those before us, those who served

So many have done their part without a doubt
Whether they served, supported or just helped out
We all rooted for the same team
How could anyone not support This American Dream

We were born in the USA under the red, white and blue

Because there’s a businessman in town
