Tried writing you a poem
but couldn’t find the words
So I searched for you in song
A melody sublime
Penned “Your beauty is celestial
and you couldn’t be from this earth
You have me speechless..”
then sang Ni nuh ni ni niii

You’re there dreaming on past midnight
not a care within your world
It’s one of peace
with faith that can’t be denied
My ink spills by moonlight glow
trying to encompass all that’s you
But my heart is singing
Ni nuh ni ni niii

If the world explodes tomorrow
or our way of life is gone
I wouldn’t want anyone else standing
by my side
You belong to the heavenly stars
watching you breathing out each sigh
And my heart beating
Ni nuh ni ni niii

When we reach that great divide
where everyone crosses alone
and we’re separated
by the pages of time
Know you’ve blessed me every day
even if I never find words to say
that you made my heart sing
Ni nuh ni ni niii

I Tried to Write You

Let’s get married, fly out
or drive from here to California
All I want is to love you down
and forget about the case
If we don’t make it in The Golden State
we can always cross the border
Start where they won’t know us
or recognize your face

Tara said she made it big but
we can’t take her road
She carries a heavy load and
everyone acts like they don’t know
She gets a million likes and hearts
but true love isn’t her future
Choosing money over love has her
going to sleep alone

If our pockets keep on leaking and it
keeps raining every day
I’d still choose you again
Just place your hand in mine
I’d pawn the diamond on my finger
to always be your shelter
Paradise is you with me
Every single time

Let’s get married and have kids
In a place like western Florida
I want to catch each sunset with you
Over and over again
If we’re caught here before dawn
You can’t say I didn’t warn you
Let’s toss this hand of cards back
Instead of making our last stand

Paradise is You

You don’t wanna talk about it
I’m not gonna ask you ever again
I like how you stay on it
I love the way you take me by the hand
I think I love you most now
You’ve been the right fit from the start
You’ve stolen my affection
You’re the Bandit of my heart

You’ve had a long day working
The things we do for three meals and a bed
It won’t buy a Birkin
But you can proudly hold your head
The future can seem murky
but luck will change after awhile
You’re the bandit of my heart
with your Mona Lisa smile

You’re out there in the desert
On the news they say it’s just begun
We’ve always stayed ready
but still breathe hoping peace will come
Come home to me safely
and I promise we won’t part
Cuz though you fight with honour
you’re still the bandit of my heart

The long distance is killing me
Can’t drive separate with one car
We don’t know if tomorrow exists
Never knew it would be this hard
I think you love me more now
It’s a miracle we’ve come this far
I’m the light within your life
You’re the bandit of my heart

Bandit of my Heart

I was a young girl from Missouri
Almost twenty-two
Packed my Jeep and headed West
with blue eyes I pledged love to
After the edge of the Pacific
where stars fall to be born
He left me for a Reseda girl
who knew him from before

La la laaa luhla, luhla, luhla
Lala lala laaa
La la laaa luhla, luhla, luhla
La la lala laaa

No one was waiting in Missouri
and nothing happens much back home
So I headed North driving the 99
fuelling up alone
And i don’t wish him any harm
‘Cause this is where your dreams come true
I just wish he’d said how he really felt
The same minute that he knew

Now I wait tables in Sacramento
Night time i serve drinks at the bar
Kelly said she has a spare room
Said “Hun, can’t live out of your car!”
If it’s a girl I’ll name her Karma
See each day my belly grows
But I’m not going back to Missouri
and where that boy is no one knows

I remember crossing the Mojave
Stopped at Barstow in the morn
Passed Joshua Trees and Prickly Pear
far from the fields of corn
Here a bright future is rising
I can see it in her eyes
They’re the colour of the Pacific
And there’s music in her cries

And I’m too old to not know better
but too young to be called wise
I’m still somebody’s daughter
even if I’m not your prize
You could have tried a little harder
than you care to realize
But now i have this golden redwood child
With deep Pacific eyes

La la laaa, luh la, luh la, luh la
Lala lala laaa
La la laaa, luh la, luh la, luh la
Lala lala laaa…

Pacific Blue

I heard the news today
of how you passed away
Still can’t believe that I
can’t look into your eyes
Now I don’t hold your hand
and I won’t see your face
Wake me outta this nightmare
or tell me that they’re lying

(Chorus)
Since Heaven is a real place
let me go there with you
Just a few more hours together
You were stolen from us too soon
This World’s so much smaller now
without you lighting up the room
Tell the Angels to carry me
to where you are

I thought I’d have you forever
thought you’d always be mine
I still see your eyes shining
in Mobay during the summertime
One minute was the mountain top
and now it’s the end of your line
You’ve got that sacred place
within this heart of mine

So hard to ride out these tears
Can’t believe you’re even gone
Bury me breathing beneath the soil
I want to be with you where you are
Deep down inside I know
you’d want me to carry on
‘til its my turn to cross
and join you beyond the stars

(Chorus)

Bury Me Too

[Chorus]
Might never make it to Catalina
We’re VIP at our local bar
Might never get to drive a Lamborghini
It’s not no bueno, it’s no cigar

I skipped my coffee on the morning ouuuut
Turned away when she SAID GoodBye
Sent something extra to her bank accouuuunt
Couldn’t stand to SEE her cry
She knows exactly what I’m all about
Soft and lovely with TENder eyes
I run it by her if I’m in doubt
We’ll stay together till the DAY we die

Might never make it to Catalina
We’re VIP at our local bar
If it’s your party with no tequila
It’s not no bueno, it’s no cigar

I’m still hung over when the morning coooomes
Late for work running out of time
This old V8 gave me a lot of fun
A piece of shit, but SHE’s ALL Mine
Johnny called me for another run
but I don’t think I want to roll that dice
Look how far we both have come
sipping boat drinks, extra ice

[Chorus]

Who else would drive you out to Santa Cruz?
In the middle of the week
nowhere else to go
Who else would toast with you in Sarasota?
To catch a sunset soaked in Rum and Coke
I love the fact that we’re here, together
My favourite number? Forty-five
I think we might just live forever
They say beach boys can never die..

We never made it to Catalina
We’re VIP at our lo-cal bar
I’ll never get you a Lamborghini
It’s not no bueno, it’s no cigar

(Repeat chorus)
