Melissa Mykael is a Toronto-based lyricist and creative writer whose lyrical style is within the pop and alternative pop music genre. A graduate of York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Melissa began her creative journey in the music and magazine industries, interning as a Project, Marketing & Promotion Intern and volunteering at the NXNE Inc. Music Festival. She later gained valuable experience in broadcasting at Rogers Media, CBC Newsworld, and Canwest MediaWorks Inc., most recently serving as a Traffic Log & Copy Coordinator.
Over the years, Melissa has written lyrics and other creative works on and off; occasionally having “fun” behind the microphone. Her greatest joy comes from writing for others—crafting the words, melodies, and stories that allow artists to shine. She dreams of one day seeing her name credited as a songwriter, contributing meaningfully to a “bunch” of songs.
Melissa’s musical influences are as rich and heartfelt as her writing. Her number one dream is to write lyrics for powerhouse vocalist Kelly Clarkson. Her favorite artist of all time is the iconic Janet Jackson, and she deeply admires Canadian talents Amanda Marshall, Tamia, Tate McRae and Jessie Reyez for their vocal emotion and authenticity.
Grounded, passionate, and purpose-driven, Melissa Mykael writes from the heart—always aiming to connect, uplift, and leave a lasting impact through song.
