Sometimes, friends may tell me you’re wrong,
They don’t know how I can carry on,
And sometimes, they may sow the seeds of doubt,
The weeds of doubt,
Always so hard to dig out.
But they see you only in black and white,
In shades that make mine an uphill fight
And they can't know behind the scenes
I know you love me.

Sometimes, we fight over silly things
You don't stand a chance, the mood I'm in,
And sometimes, my mind tries to play tricks on me
It picks on me
Races on far too quick for me.
But as I lie here, in the dead of night,
The truth invades like a blinding light,
It breaks the barriers I've raised,
And says you love me.

Sometimes, when you have made me mad,
I dream about what I could have had,
And sometimes, when our plans have gone astray,
It's not our day
And I'd like to run away,
You comfort me, and always takes my side,
Whether or not you believe I'm right,
And it gives me the strength I need
To know you love me.

You Love Me

I saw you, our eyes met, you turned away.
I’d call you back but I lack the words to say.
With careless abandon, you dance through my hurt,
Carve your initials deep in my heart.

Dance to the rhythm of my bleeding pain,
Laugh as you sing, shattering shame.
Sharpen your loving to cut me again,
Then casually hand me the blame.

I walk blind by your side, I never see
The trap you bait till the gate slams down on me.
My fresh tears are flavoured by your seasoned flirt,
They flow, hot and bitter, right through my heart.

You draw me in
Sweet scented sin,
I try again
So need to win.

Your practised kiss
You never miss.

You draw me in
Sweet scented sin,
I try again
So need to win.

Breath searing kiss
You never miss.

You dance to the rhythm of my bleeding pain,
Laugh as you sing, shattering shame.
Sharpen your loving to cut me again,
Then casually hand me the blame.

You

What’s the matter with me?
Why is everyone whispering about me?
Why can’t they leave me alone?

Do these people get their kicks
Out of seeing someone else knocked for six?
Please, can’t they leave me alone?

Leave me alone.
I’ve got a heart, I’m not made of stone.
I’ve been cut right down to the bone.
Now all I ask is, leave me alone.
I’m bleeding here, just leave me alone.

What’s the matter with you?
Is this what you really wanted to do?
What if you wind up alone?

Think twice before you head out,
One day you might be the one left to shout,
Please, can’t they leave me alone?

What comes round goes around.
You are heartbreak bound.
Losing what you found,
Kneeling on the ground,
With a pain too deep for sound.
Crowds gathering round
Shout on the rebound…

Leave me alone!

You’ll get what you deserve
When everyone’s whispering hits a nerve,
Want them to leave you alone.

Watch me, I’ll get my kicks
Out of seeing someone knock you for six,
While you cry, leave me alone.

Leave me alone.
I’ve got a heart, I’m not made of stone.

I don’t know what you did, but you hurt my friend
I don’t know how it started but I saw the end.
And now she’s crying herself to sleep,
Sobbing till her throat aches
Suffering the heartbreaks.
And if my friend is hurting…
I’m blaming you.

Never saw her so happy until you were there,
But you pushed her from the ledge and that isn’t fair.
And now she’s crying herself to sleep,
All her dreams in tatters,
Losing all that matters.
And if my friend is hurting…
Then you will, too.

I’ve spent a lifetime loving her secretly,
Though I know she could never want a man like me.
But nobody’s gonna make her weep
Anyone who tries it
Should start apologizing
Cos if my friend is hurting,
The one who did the hurting
Will soon find he is hurting…

Oh yes, you will be hurting…
You’ll be hurting, too.

If my friend is hurting

You did a number on me.
I believed every word you ever said,
I let you get into my head,
Where you stayed, long after you were gone.
Stayed. And I couldn’t move on.

You did a number on me.
With your words you beat me to the floor
Till I wondered what I was good for.
Confidence. After you, mine was gone.
Lost. And I couldn’t move on.

The bruises are all inside,
Easy for me to hide.
The scars you left on my soul
Never let me be whole.
I shouted, I cried, I screamed.
Grieved for my shattered dreams.
But never once did I see
You’d done a number on me.

You did a number on me.
It took a while for the truth to break through:
The biggest problem I had was you.
Now I know, and the healing’s begun.
You lose. And I start to move on.

Moving On

You’re the first one I reach for each morning,
The last thing I dream of at night.
If it wasn’t for you
Don’t know what I would do,
I wouldn’t end, but I’d feel like I might.

The first time you came into my life
The day became instantly bright.
The birds twittered sweet tunes
Like some Disney cartoon,
I didn’t fly, but I thought that I might.

I didn’t know I was so free
Didn’t see everything I could be.
Thought I’d done all I could do
But that was before I met you.

~

I didn’t know I was so free
Didn’t see everything I could be.
Thought I’d done all I could do
But that was before I met you.

Now you’re the first thing I need each morning,
The only one I want at night.
And as long as you’re here
I’ve got nothing to fear,
Do I love you? Yes, I think I just might.

I just might

The old man said to me
I know what you want to be
So go ahead and see
If you can swing it.

There will be days when you
See failure peeping through.
Know that this passes too,
And meantime, wing it.

A lifetime of pain flashed through his eyes,
Don’t clip your wings, he said, reach for the skies.
All that you do is a step on your way,
The past you lived through led you to today,
The past was what built your today.

We may not ever know
About the seed we sow
But give it room to grow,
Go on and spring it.

Let it grow tall and strong,
What you needed all along,
It’s part of your life’s song,
So come on and sing it.

You are the way you are,
So reach for your lucky star,
Don’t give in, you’ve come so far,
Rope it, and ring it.

Wing it and spring it.

It’s your song, so sing it.

Your song, so sing it

Her clothes mark a path from our front door,
Up the stairs, in the bath, on the bedroom floor.
Sticky sweet perfume hits me hard,
Closes my throat, puts me on my guard.
You can’t make this better, there’s nothing that could.
Face it, you just couldn’t be good.

Blame the heat of a long summer night,
Blame the booze, blame the music, the subdued light.
Blame the blonde, so keen to put out,
Blame my suspicions, fuel my doubts.
Blame what you need to make the lie true,
The one thing we can’t blame is you.

But her sticky sweet perfume claws me inside
Reminds me that once more, you lied.

Tell her coldly that she’s a mistake.
Come to me on your knees, whatever it takes.
Swear there’s no more, she is the last.
Raising hell is a thing of the past.
We both know you mean every word that you say,
You’ll do your best, at least for today.

Still her sticky sweet perfume claws me inside,
Reminds me that once more, you lied.
