Joke's On Me
By Rob Spencer
She said I'll never find anyone who could show me what true love is,
When she took my heart and gave it back to me, in a million pieces,
I didn't believe it, surely no one else could be as cruel as she is,
Then I couldn't see,
The joke's on me,
Told me one day I'll look back and remember what she said,
And only thing left would be to wish that I was dead,
But I was sure there was more life to be,
The joke's on me,
I tried to give her as much love as I could,
And I thought our future would be all it should,
But it was never to be,
The joke's on me,
Time passed by and I saw you there,
Thought you really did care,
Someone could finally set me free,
The joke's on me,
You took my heart,
Don't give in back in a million pieces,
Surely you can't be as cruel as she is,
I'm hoping all the beauty we can see,
The joke's on me,
As I look back and remember what she said,
Those words somehow still ring through my head,
And when I can't shake them, I wish I was dead,
I'm hoping for a better life to be,
The joke's on me,
It's not funny, but I guess I see,
The joke, the joke's on me
