Worn out soul
By Sally Stevens
Times are fxxxin’ brutal,
Pretending to be me,
It’s driving me insane,
Almost there, but not quite free.
Didn’t see the brain fog creeping in,
Thoughts falling out of my head,
Tena Ladies, hell, I’m buying 'em,
I used to be bold, now half way to dead.
Chorus:
Old age has slapped me hard in the face
My wrinkles tell the story of this race
They want me to show up, play nice,
But hell, I don’t know what mood I’ll find
I’m happier when the rain’s pourin' down,
With wine and cake to drown it out,
Come too close, and you’ll hear the toll,
Of the price I’ve paid for this worn-out soul
Verse 2:
Wrapped up, I’m trapped in hesitation,
Sick of peeking out the door,
My DNA says I’m goin’ early,
But fxxx it, I’m not asking for more.
Can’t help it, I wanna stay in hiding,
Let the world burn, let it spin,
I’m not playing your crazy game,
I don’t give a shit about fitting in.
Bridge:
Yeah, I’m crazy losing it,
But it’s not just old age,
It’s the world punishing me,
Trying to put me in a rage.
Chorus:
Old age has slapped me hard in the face
My wrinkles tell the story of this race
They want me to show up, play nice,
But hell, I don’t know what mood I’ll find
I’m happier when the rain’s pourin' down,
With wine and cake to drown it out,
Come too close, and you’ll hear the toll,
Of the price I’ve paid for this worn-out sou
