She wants to have a baby but doesn't want to wed
and doesn't want a man to share her single bed
There is a neat solution, science she can thank
and so she makes her way to a certain kind of bank.

She checks the menu there, selects the things she needs
Blue eyes, blond hair and college degrees
When Himmler tried to build a German master race
The project was condemned as a total disgrace.

And the donors say they do it for the extra money
And some of them seem to find it all quite funny
They don't mind selling on their genetic code
They just show up to collect what they're owed.

Business rivals strive to sell their wares
Quality assured, fully tested, no cares
Stalls set out for the trade show crowd
It's clinical, cynical, they're so product-proud.

She's given an appointment and a reference number
She's asked for her age and her bank account number
The doctor reassures her, he thinks that she'll succeed
But he cannot guarantee any fruit from the seed.

The child wants to know her biological dad
It's the contact that she wants that she's never ever had
But if she traces her roots and her family tree
They will lead her to a clinic in the cold city.
