Breathe Child
(Written by Michael Cazier)

Verse 1

Have you seen a face in the streets at night
Have you not witnessed a shadow shines so bright
Crushed dreams, thousands of big fish small fish swim
In tiny jars of hope, where is the Pope
When children forced to play
Games of lust games of prey from morning until dust

Verse 2

Have you seen his face slammed against a wall
Reasons big, reasons small, sometimes nothing at all
Looks like a Pitbull, acts like a Chihuahua, eats like a pig
Plays like a snake, walks like a crocodile, smells like a chimp
Work, what work, work what?

Chorus

Breathe child breathe
Swallow the air underneath
Choke on it, laugh while you bleed
Run child run
Before you walk into my fun

Verse 3

Have you seen his son, like father not like fun
Running from the rising sun, hiding under a gun
Waiting for the moment
Breathe child breathe
Hold his head high sinking underneath
Dear God, have you seen the son, like father love the fun

Chorus

Breathe child breathe
Swallow the air underneath
Choke on it, laugh while you bleed
Run child run
Before you walk into my fun

Verse 4

Have you seen her face where she buries it
More beautiful than the stars shine in darkest wars
Kiss a toad, kiss ten on the floor, kiss forevermore
Here’s a hint clearly see on prints
Shut up, she is sleeping away her sweetest dreams

Verse 5

Have you seen their daughter, full of life it seems
Nine to five walking on tightrope, girl…that’s dope!
Kiss a frog on the road looking for a knight, girl…that’s tight!
Boys may come and boys no show on the road she knows
Laughing slapping having fun waiting for the sun
Sun light shines on sticky floors of Lalaland
Kisses her hair
Touches her skin
Warms her silent body lying there

Chorus

Breathe child breathe
Swallow the air underneath
Choke on it, laugh while you bleed
Run child run
Near or far
Get under my bras

Breathe child breathe
Swallow the air underneath
Choke on it, laugh while you bleed
Run child run
Before you walk into my fun

Gone
(by Michael Cazier)

Verse 1

Hear me for the last time
I’ll be gone today
Tomorrow never comes
What happens now
Has gone somehow

Verse 2

Take me as I come
Can’t change who I am
Hold me close, I’ll be alright
Hold me tight, please don’t fight
I’ll be gone and you’ll
Sing this song in blues

Chorus

I’m what I am made of
You left me in the rain
I‘m over with pain
Will you sing and dance
To no more last chance
Hate me not too late
No more will I wait
Outside of your gate

Verse 3

Love is only blind
When you can’t face the truth
True Love fears no one
I am what you fear
You changed your lane
You called me dear
You left me in the rain
You drive me insane

Verse 4

Close your eyes baby
Tell me what you see
Am I the same,
or you are to blame
Remember my name

Bridge

Now that we are here
I’ve faced the tide
I did it with pride
and now you’re there
You want me near
Are you done with fear

I'm what I'm made of
I sing and dance in the rain
I am done with pain
Life begins at dawn
I am already gone

Gone

Fate
(written by Michael Cazier)

Verse 1

Said you are sorry
If it makes you feel right
All the games you played,
All the names you betrayed
You’re happy if I die

Chorus

You take and you cry
You give and you cry
You fake it with a smile

Verse 2

This isn’t love, love
How can you see me
When you can’t see yourself
You do the things
You hate others do
You are who you hate
It’s your fate!

Chorus

You take and you cry
You give and you cry
You fake it, you make it mine
Verse 3

I’ve made it right with my guitar
I shake and bake in my car
You fight you hide from me
You won the fight
You lost the prize
Keep on looking and you may find
Your lover is not alive

Chorus

You take and you cry
You give and you cry
You fake it inside you die

Bridge

All the games you played,
All the names you betrayed
Years ago like years from now
You realized you can’t escape
The life that you’ve made
It’s your fate

Not a Word
(Written by Michael Cazier)

If I have a child, and on his 18th birthday
he comes and tells me
Dad, I am gay
I have a boyfriend named Jayd
what would I say?

I would not say a word
for nothing I say
could possibly convey
how deeply I love my son who’s gay
how blessed and proud he makes me feel
even long before we met on his first birthday
nothing will change, love only gets better
I cannot see how this can be any other way

I would listen to my son’s every word
cry, smile, and laugh with him
my arms embrace him
hold him tightly
help him feels secure
unconditionally loved
and supported for sure

I would kiss away his worries
like how I did at bedtime stories
until he turned five and started school
suddenly eighteen now looking so cool
how could he grow up so fast ?
I try to make it last
it feels like yesterday
I tugged him in and whispered
g‘nite son, sweet dreams
remember to leave the lights dimmed

I will show my son that true love has no fear
to feel secure that his father will always be near
here on the first day, there until my last breath
to protect, love, and guide him
to know my son is gay blessed are my days
for him and I we grow even closer
his courage to come out, kindness, and giving nature
silence any word, I, his father, could ever muster

Not a Word

Verse 1

Once upon a time
Love is just a fairy tale
Love is not for sale
It holds and protects you
Let you see the light
what tomorrow brings

Verse 2

Is this what they sing
love where love’s not found
where kindness echoes
in the darkest place I know
You lift me off the ground
You turn me around

Chorus

You take me to a place
I have never seen
You break down my walls
You took my hands
stood by me on desert sands
where silence sounds like thunder
where love I discovered

Verse 3

On broken wings he flies
in a world he is forsaken
shot down from the sky
a rare bird has fallen
there he's left to die

Verse 4

Kissed for the first time
he opens his eyes
feels a breath on his face
his wings take flight
he is flying high
with you by his side

Bridge

There’s a tune now he sings
love where love’s not found
stronger than thunder
love is love discovered

Love Discovered

Sinners the Winners

Verse I

Sleepless nights
lost days burnt bright
Fears soaked in silence
created new legions of doubt
Steel bound at crossroads
of faith and deliverance
Lust, intolerance
Deliberate ignorance
brought the divine to his knees

Chorus

We're sinners the winners
eager to breed
spread seeds better bleed
feed the poor man
burn him on the beach
We take what’s not for free
seize the moment of victory
shed a tear and make history

Verse II

Sunday comes
Families gather happy chatters
Whispers in the wind
Brother plays with his twin's
The wife looks pretty, go make sins
Mother rarely says a word
goes to mass pleasing the Lord
ends up in a psych ward
Father's too busy gambling
and God’s winning

Bridge

We take what God gives us
We're born to make his mistakes
Live it out loud, be proud for his sake
For we are the sinners and winners
We take, we make, we give it free
Let others seize the moment
Together we claim victory
sharing our tears reading history
