Stone Wall

So grand the introduction
How charming is the smile
Such grace and composure
such notable style

But stepping down
from the stage, I saw
a sadness
only then, a flaw
within the grace

I didn't want
to look, and so
turned face.

But I couldn't help but see
and it frightened me
for then
I saw the child again
and even now
the child is alone.

They believe my answers
as I translate them with sound
But they cannot see my tears
as I turn around

for water doesn't fall
it serves to build
upon a wall
the form of which is that of stone
and hence, I've found myself alone

With distance, yes
is royal grace
yet one step closer
I cannot face

I must admit this now I see
for it only matters when it frightens me
and so, shall hide again today
until I know you've gone away

I cannot break this heart of stone
ever destined
all alone.
