I have been playing piano since I was a little girl, and have always had an intense connection to music. The first song I wrote was when I was 12 years old, and it was garbage (retrospectively) but it really launched my love and passion for music and songwriting as a whole. I picked up the guitar when I was 14, coming from a musical family, there were always guitars around... I just never knew what to do with them. It was as if I woke up one day and decided "today is the day, I am going to learn how to play the guitar." Shortly after, I wrote my first song on the acoustic guitar. It is called "Nashville" and is all about the story of Loretta Lynn and her claim to fame. Written in the style of old honky tonk country, its innocence really captures how little I knew about what it takes to succeed in the music industry. Since I was 14, I have been writing songs, some years I am on fire and can write upwards of 50 songs in a year, other years, like most recently, I am only able to get out one or two, but they feel really meaningful. I grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and being surrounded by music constantly really kind of paved its own way for me, but I moved to Bozeman, MT for college in 2012 and my songwriting really took off there through inspiration of the landscape around me, the people I met, and the stories I was told of the land. After living there for several years, writing enough songs to create my own acoustic album, I moved on to New Mexico, to follow my partners dreams and support him during his PhD. I stopped writing when we moved there, due to lack of inspiration and the space to create. However, when we finally moved back to Montana in 2022, the inspiration flowed through me like water. I present my style as a cross-genre approach. I write mostly country or folk themed ballads, and continue to approach my songwriting through storytelling and personal experiences and interpersonal relationships. I am hopeful that the newfound confidence in myself and my music will bring me some success on this platform, as I do feel like I have a gift that is worth sharing with the world.
