You Are The Rose

You are the rose, I am the leaf
You're the reason that I breathe
On our own, we don't survive
We play our part, keep us alive
We put down roots, to keep us strong
And so we grow, cos we belong
Side by side, we live our life
We have it all, just you and I
Just so you know, I’ll make it clear
Without you, I'd not be here
Though sometimes it's bittersweet
On my own, I'm incomplete
I give you strength, I help you bloom
My energy, you must consume
Your beauty, for all to see
And your scent, you will set free
As new buds come, we'll nurture them
As we build upon our stem
And with our family complete
We'll stand proud and display our feat
Just so you know, I’ll make it clear
Without you, I'd not be here
Though sometimes it's bittersweet
On my own, I'm incomplete

Autumn sneaks in, like a thief
Seasons change and colours fade
This is the end of our parade
But we know we will live on
The stem we built is good and strong
Though we may fade, our roots are deep
Our future’s strong, so do not weep
