If This Sounds Like You

By Samantha Larsen
I’m exhausted, sometimes I can’t even breathe
Think I’ve lost it, sometimes I don't feel like me

I fight and I fight and I fight and I fight
I’m a good girl who takes her meds in the mornings and nights
They tell me they help me, but what does that mean?
Are they doing me good or damaging me?

But then I remember all the damage I caused, hurting the ones I love and running them off
Over stupid things that I couldn’t control, If I had help then would it have happened at all?

So I guess I’ll take the pills, and let them do what they do
Just know you’re not alone if this sounds like you

I’m frustrated, that sometimes I have no control
It’s complicated, you have to be in it to know

I try and I try and I try and I try
But off my meds I fall apart and I don’t know why
Am I crazy, insane, just like I feel?
Are the feelings I have imagined or real?

And hats off to the ones who stood by me, when I had no idea what was happening
Why I’d cry all the time and then switch on a dime, anger and aggression that rained from the sky

So I guess I’ll see the shrink and let them do what they do
Just know you’re not alone if this sounds like you

And just because you need the help
Doesn’t mean that you are weak
Just means you’re strong enough to know what you need

I fight and I fight and I fight and I fight
I'm a good girl who takes her meds in the mornings and nights
May not be forever but it might
But at the end of the day I know that I'll be alright

So I guess I'll take the pills, like the shrink tells me to
Just know you're not alone if this sounds like you
