GOING VIRAL - COVID 19

By The Jolly Farmer
The pubs are closed the streets are bare, there's frightened people everywhere
with face masks on and wondering when, life'l get back to normal again

The warning came from overseas, some bats that often hang in trees
Had passed a virus on to one, who did not tell but just kept stumm

Before we knew whole cities were, infected by the deadly pair
the bat and human did not know, of how their work would hurt us so

The evil spread like wildfire quick, hopped the oceans, made us sick
Sad for those who did succumb, a million people overcome

Chorus: So keep your mom and grandpa safe, say at home and isolate
Wash your hands, don't go to town, keep the big R number down
Social distancing is fine, best order everything on-line

The trains were stopped the buses too, they shut the parks no public loo
Furloughed workers throughout the land, cannot even shake a hand

Our leaders too did not escape, for Boris also had a scrape
The spreading virus brought him down, it took him weeks to come around

The Donald he was not too bad, a brief illness just made him sad
“That so many people had to die but we can defeat it if we try” (Said with an American accent)

And still this Covid marches on, students locked up in their dorm
Families forced to isolate, from loved ones now in such a state

Chorus: So keep your mom and grandpa safe, say at home and isolate
Wash your hands, don't go to town, keep the big R number down
Social distancing is fine, best order everything on-line

A second wawe is coming soon, it's already up there in the 'toon'
Lockdown starting up again, families hiding in their den

Redundancy now looming large, we'll all soon be on bread and marge
As mortgage repossessions soar, no work, no money, no front door

Can social order still be sound, when all around is crashing down?
Scientists argue what is best, our government struggling with the test

The life we knew has all but gone, our misery is in this song
We wonder how things might have been, if we'd never heard of -- Covid 19.

Chorus: So keep your mom and grandpa safe, say at home and isolate
Wash your hands, don't go to town, keep the big R number down
Social distancing is fine, best order everything on-line
