I get it....but I guess I dont

By
I was only 5 years old
Always did what I was told
Born in a little white neighborhood
I thought life was so good

A year or rwo later
As I was running from a gator
Fearing this could be the end
I stumbled upon a new friend

Ran home to tell my dad
But he got very mad
And forbid us to play
And told him to stay away

That night I got the hand
But still couldn't understand
This boy seemed fine to me
But was told its not to be

*Being taught hatred at such a young age is no way for any kid to ever be raised. Its time to take a stand, stand up and be your own man. Thankfully I was able to unlearn what I was taught and had the strenth to get away from the man I use to call pop *

Bought his BS for a while
Living my life in denial
Denying my feelings inside
The feelings i always had to hide

Couple more years passed
And i continued to ask
How was I better than him
When he always seemed to win

All the games we played in the yard
Man, he always tried so hard
Then summer turned to fall
And it was time to play some ball

*Being taught hatred at such an early age is never the way any kid should be raised. It's time to take a stand, stand up and be your own man. Thankfully I was able to unlearn what I was taught and had the strenth to get away from the guy I use to call pop *

Taking after my mentor
I took the spot behind center
Henry was our star running back
Oh man, could he attack

One hell of a season we had
I didn't care my dad was mad
If I continued to listen to him
Henry wouldn't be my best friend

We won States that year
And it was obviously clear
The scouts were eyeing him
Henry became a USC Trojan

The next 5 years was a wild scene
Henry was living out his dream
He broke every record on the schools wall
And then went the 1st pick overall

Being drafted by his home town team
Allowed him to reunite with the homecoming queen

On their wedding day
I was the best man
Then they had a couple kids
And bought a piece of land

To this day
Henry's kids still call me uncle
Everytime we get together it's always a good chuckle
