As the sky turned black 
The air turned cold 
No one could hold him back
He felt he needed to go
The moon was bright 
So it lit the way
It made for a perfect night 
No need to wait till day

He's heard the stories 
But he couldn't believe the news
He had to see it for himself 
Just to know it was true
It had been years since the beast had shown its face
Guess there's plenty of places to hide within the Natchez Trace

Shots rang out 
It was an eire sound
A bullet through dark piercing low hanging clouds 
If things go right he would get off clean
But muddy water won't wash the blood off his jeans

Well he had a plan 
That involved a friend
They've done it before 
So they'll try it again
It's funny how stories change 
When blue lights flash
The friend spills it all with his hands on the dash
Wardens count the bodies they had piled in the back
Choppers in the air hounds on his tracks
