More Than A Friend
By Patrick Cooney
You're so much more than a friend to me
You're not just object or some novelty
Girl you are so likeable
And to God I'm so thankful
Even though that we will never be
You got your life and you are right on track
As for me, well so long now the cards have been stacked
Trying to figure out my next move
But I can not find my groove
Cause it seems there's so much that I lack
But there is one thing I know for sure
What ails me now there is only one cure
And that's being, that's being with you
But you have told me time and time again
That we will never be more than just friends
But my heart beats only, it beats only for you
Going round and round on life's carousel
For some people it's heaven
For others it's hell
Then there's the people in between
The paupers and the Kings
Who live life daily saved by the bell
You tried your luck at love and lost before
But there's a light out there that will lead you to shore
And you've proved that you are tough
And that you're smart enough
To know when to buy and when to sell
Wondering if the time will ever come
When I finally have my day under the sun
Will it ever happen, that I do not know
Right now my future seems a bit hazy
And I'm pretty sure that I will go crazy
If I keep going with the status quo
