Singer-songwriter & lyricist Ali Shaw passionately writes about loss, desire, regret, death, addiction—nothing is off limits.
She began her musical journey performing small town gigs and opening for her father’s band as a teen. By her early 20s she was exploring the pop/rock genre as a fulltime traveling musician, fronting several popular bands in northern California. Once off the road, she went on to freelance as a writer for Hallmark and Blue Mountain Arts. But it was her work with former bandmates of Steve Perry and Kenny G, that reignited the desire to convey stories through lyrics—and people were taking notice. Ali cites her work with the late composer Victor Schoen as “…one of the greatest honors I could ever hope for.”
Heavily influenced by seasoned storytellers, Ali credits her ability to “show” a story in the most tangible of ways to her fascination with (and near worship of) British artist Kate Bush. Ali’s ability to pull you into the story with her unique perspective and a poet’s heart mirrors the works of some of the best songtellers of our time.
