Where has the time gone?

Chorus

First in, first out
that's the way it's going to be
I ain't taking in seconds
Till the first one leaves
Call me old fashioned
I prefer to be true
I ain't missing out on nothing
By not messing around with you

Verse 1

She's been my beacon
She's my guiding light
I can tell she really loves me
cause she shines so bright
She makes me happy
when I'm feeling blue
I ain't missing out on nothing
By not messing around with you

Chorus 2

First in, first out
That's the way it's going to be
It's the rule I live by
So, don't be tempting me
Just say your goodbyes
I'll hold the door
First in, first out
She's the one I'm living for

Instrumental

Verse 2

You can keep your good looks
and save the charm
They're not going to work here
They can do no harm
Just stop your begging
I'm staying true
First in, first out
I ain't messing around with you

Repeat chorus 1

First in, first out

“Life is like a highway”

Verse 1

When I was just a young man
My Dad took me aside
To give me his advice
On how to live my life

Now he’s aged and more forgetful
But he still remembers when
He spoke those words of wisdom
So he reminded me again

Chorus

This ol’ life is like a highway
We must all travel down
There’s no going back— there's no turnin’ ‘round
It’s not about the destination
It’s ‘bout the journey son
Learn to live the good life
Till you're wandering is done

Verse 2

May the Lord walk beside you
Through the calm and through the storms
You know he’s there to guide you
Through the twist and through the turns

You’ll have your share of ups and downs
Just do the best you can
Stop and smell the roses
you won’t pass this way again

Chorus

This ol’ life is like a highway
We must all travel down
There’s no going back— there's no turnin’ ‘round
It’s not about the destination
It’s ‘bout the journey son
Learn to live the good life
Till you're wandering is done

Verse 3

My father’s gone to heaven
But I never will forget
To try to live the good life
Without any regrets

My son has gotten older
So i know he’ll understand
When I take him aside
To say my father’s words to him

Chorus

This ol’ life is like a highway
We must all travel down
There’s no going back– there’s no turnin’ ‘round
It’s not about the destination
It’s about the journey son
So, learn to live the good life
Till your wandering is done

Yeah, learn to live the good life
Till your wandering is done

Life is like a highway

Eating cheese and crackers
while watching tv. Elliot Ness was a hero to me
We'd watch him take the bad guys off the streets

And you can't forget ol' Cool Hand Luke
outsmarting boss man while shaking that bush.
These are just a few of my childhood memories.

So, take me down those forgotten roads.
Where imagination and dreams unfold
help me to believe once again.
That heroes still exist today.
And the bad guys will all get put away.
And that lonely ranger will ride again one day.

Playing cops and robbers
just past dusk the streetlight ended many a bust.
We'd pick up where we left off the next day.

Some kids had cap guns others had sticks.
When I yelled bang I seldom missed.
That ol' bad guy would have to stay right where he lay.

Yeah, take me down those forgotten roads.
Where imagination and dreams unfold.
Help me to believe once again.
That heroes still exist today.
And the bad guys will all get put away.
And that lonely ranger will ride again one day.

Well, I'm grown today, and I have a son.
I sit and watch him on his smartphone.
And I wonder how in the world could that be fun?

Sometimes I want to hand him a stick.
And holler bang just to see him twitch.
But the wife says I should just leave him alone.

But I want to take him down forgotten roads.
Where imagination and dreams unfold.
And help him to believe once again.
That heroes still exist today.
And the bad guys will all get put away.
And that lonely ranger will ride again one day.

Write me a song
two minutes long
that's about as long as our love lasted
Write down a verse
about a love that was cursed
and how she used up what I had
without askin'

So much for trust
our love went bust
then she walked out of my door
She left me alone
in this big ol' home
she won't be comin' 'round no more

Yeah, write me a song
'bout how she did me wrong
how she broke my heart
with her lyin'
Tell all the world
she's that type of girl
she'll leave you busted up and cryin'

That ring on her hand
was nothin' but a band
of gold to feed her greed
it's probably long gone
somewhere in pawn
that's just about guaranteed

Yeah, write me a song
two minutes long
that's about as long as our love lasted
make my story rhyme
in this amount of time
my friend that's all I'm askin'

It shouldn't take long
to spell it out in song
how she was gone with the wind
How she stole my heart
from the very start
and how the pain
will never end

Write me a song

Lyrics:
Help me remember to forget

Chorus

Won't you help me to remember to forget
All the love i have for her
And how i let her slip away
It must be hard for a girl like you
To accept
But won't you help me to remember to forget

Verse 1

you see you walk a lot like her
And you talk alot like her
I would not be surprised at all
If you kissed a lot like her
I know you think im crazy
For asking this of you
But won't you help me to remember to forget

Repeat Chorus

Verse 2

I promise to be true
Spend the night just lovin you
So before you answer no my dear
Take a minute to think it through
I want to entertain you
With a night you won't regret
If you'll just help me to remember to forget.

Chorus/instrumental

Verse 3

You see you laugh a lot like her
And you smile alot like her
I would not be surprised at all
If you loved a lot like her

Yeah won't you help me to remember to forget.

Yeah won't you help me to remember to forget

Help me to remember to forget

She's a one going on ten
She's gettin' better lookin'
with each sip of gin
And the dim lights only add to the mystique

I'd say it's just a matter of time
Before the woman's lookin' more than fine
And there won't be much left to her to critique

Well, forget 'bout the buck teeth
Or the eye that's lookin' west
Don't worry 'bout the hair loss
You'll find it on her chest

She's a one goin' on ten
She's gettin' better lookin'
With each sip of gin
And the drunker I get the more she's lookin' blessed

Instrumental

I'm waitin' 'round for last call
Drinkin' whatever I can get
I'll have to consume a lot
With all the ugly to forget

yeah, I'm gonna make her mine
Take her home at closin' time
She's a beauty queen
who's reached level nine

So, forget 'bout the buck teeth
Or the eye that's lookin' west
Don't worry 'bout the hair loss
You'll find it on her chest

She's a one goin' on ten
She's gettin' better lookin'
with each sip of gin
And the drunker I get the more she's lookin' blessed

Yeah, the drunker I get the more she's lookin' blessed.

She's a one going on ten.

Chorus

I'm in search of a hook
to write a song about you
you're all a man could ask for
you're a dream come true
I've been thinking it over
and over again
I can't seem to find the words
to know where to begin

You're sweet and humble
like humble pie
you're the shining apple
of this man's eye
you're all a man longs for
I know this much is true
Yet, I'm in search of a hook
to write a song about you

verse 1

It needs to be simple
but catchy too
I want to tell a lot of something
about my love for you
I want to sing it in harmony
how great thou are
I want to put it down in verse
but I ain't getting very far

Verse 2

Why is this so hard
when there's plenty I could write
like telling of your beauty
or your eyes that shine so bright
I can hear the music
playing in my mind
so, I'm in search of a hook
and the words that rhyme

Repeat chorus

In search of a hook
