I Plead The Fifth

Here I stand in the courthouse
With my hands and feet in chains
The judge is due to give his verdict
And my heart is fraught with pain

I'm sure the verdict will be guilty
For a murder that I didn't do
But I said that I plead the fifth
For she can't know I've been untrue

I plead the fifth
And I'd rather die
Than tell the truth
And give my alibi

I was in another woman's arms
And it would hurt her more if she knew
That I'd been untrue
Than guilty of a crime I didn't do

I could give proof of my innocence
But that secret will have to die with me
For I won't give my evidence
And to keep my silence is my plea

I don't know which is worse
To live my life with all the shame
Or to die with my secret never told
For a crime of which I'm not to blame

I plead the fifth
And I'd rather die
Than tell the truth
And give my alibi

I was in another woman's arms
And it would hurt her more if she knew
That I'd been untrue
Than guilty of a crime I didn't do

I plead the fifth
And I'd rather die
Than tell the truth
And give my alibi

I was in another woman's arms
And it would hurt her more if she knew

Modern Man

The toilet seat I leave down
And give her the tv remote
I gave up watching too much sport
So she can watch all her soaps

I babysit the kids some nights
So she can go out with her friends
That dripping tap I've fixed
And that cupboard door I'll mend

For I am a modern man
And not ashamed to admit
That she is calm and happy
And doesn't throw a hissy fit

I don't have to prove I'm tough
When I'm as gentle as a lamb
She can see the softer side of me
As I'm a modern man

People say that I'm house trained
But they just don't understand
For what a woman really wants
Is for you to give her a hand

In the end I have won her heart
Where other men always fail
It only goes to prove my point
And to see I've got it nailed

For I am a modern man
And not ashamed to admit
That she is calm and happy
And doesn't throw a hissy fit

I don't have to prove I'm tough
When I'm as gentle as a lamb
She can see the softer side of me
As I'm a modern man

Modern Man

I'm Your Marionette

There's a tale that has been told
Of a dancing puppet that was old
So the owner threw it away
Then a little girl came by
Picked it up and said my my my
I'd like to take you home if I may

Once that she had got it home
And was in her bedroom all alone
She put together all its broken parts
Then and there to her delight
Magic happened on that night
That brought so much joy to her heart

I am Jeanette
And I'm your marionette
She sung as she pulled her strings
If you pull them left and right
Tonight and every night
For you I will dance and sing

But be gentle when you hold me
And with the strings that control me
As I am fragile and I might break
You came and rescued me
And gave a loving home to me
I was asleep now I'm awake

I am Jeanette
And I'm your marionette
She sung as she pulled her strings
If you pull them left and right
Tonight and every night
For you I will dance and sing

But be gentle when you hold me
And with the strings that control me
As I am fragile and I might break
You came and rescued me
And gave a loving home to me

Through troubles and through strife

I put my faith in him
The one who wears the crown
And no matter how big the task
I know he won't let me down

I'm in good hands
And I trust him with my life
I'm................
I'm in good hands
Through troubles and through strife

He fills my heart with wonder
His love knows no bounds
I need never worry
When I know that he's around

Through troubles and through strife

Through all adversities

Grouch

You wake up in the morning
Like a bear with a sore head
So it's better for everyone
If you just stayed in bed

You're moody
Bad tempered
You roll your bottom lip and pout
Go on and go back to sleep
You ungrateful grouch

You are so hard to live with
You rant and rave and complain
It's always someone else's fault
What do you hope to gain

You're moody
Bad tempered
You roll your bottom lip and pout
Go on and go back to sleep
You ungrateful grouch

Just think before you lose your rag
And consider what others feel
You will lose all your friends
By being such a heel

You're moody
Bad tempered
You roll your bottom lip and pout
Go on and go back to sleep
You ungrateful grouch

It will all catch up with you
If dinner isn't good enough
It could end up on your head
If you keep on being a gruff

You're moody
Bad tempered
You roll your bottom lip and pout
Go on and go back to sleep
You ungrateful grouch

Let's Cross That Bridge When We Come To It

Your parents say that our love's not right
And that our future doesn't look so bright
That we'll grow apart before too long
So it's up to us to prove them wrong

Let's cross that bridge when we come to it
And let's just think about the here and now
For any obstacles that may stand in our way
We'll get over all of them somehow

They say my leaving's overdue
That I'm not good enough for you
But you can make up your own mind
They may approve of me in time

Let's cross that bridge when we come to it
And let's just think about the here and now
For any obstacles that may stand in our way
We'll get over all of them somehow

If you listen to everything that they say
They may convince you that I won't stay
But only time will tell what is to be
So for the sake of love let's wait and see

Let's cross that bridge when we come to it
And let's just think about the here and now
For any obstacles that may stand in our way
We'll get over all of them somehow

Let's Cross That Bridge When We Come To It

Good News

A man came running fast
And he was out of breath
The tale he had to tell
Was one he could attest

I bring good news
About a man from Galilee
I will tell you all about it
So listen carefully

I've seen him heal the sick
And give sight to the blind
They say that he is here
To save all of mankind

He is the the good news
They say he's called the lamb
And from what I have heard
He will sit at God's right hand

He's helped all those in need
But been flogged and abused
For he has been arrested
And now he stands accused

He is here to save us all
They say he's king of the Jews
He'll give his life for us
And that is my good news

He is the the good news
They say he's called the lamb
And from what I have heard
He will sit at God's right hand

He is here to save us all
They say he's king of the Jews
He'll give his life for us
And that is my good news

I'm Not Ready

I'm not ready
For going steady
I guess I will need more time
I not looking
For a steady Eddie
As I can't make up my mind

A long engagement
Going on for years
To me would be so wrong
So I will wait
And for now I'll only date
Till the right one comes along

I'm not ready
For going steady
I guess I will need more time
I not looking
For a steady Eddie
As I can't make up my mind

If I were seen with you
Then what would I do
If the right man came walking by
They would see my ring
And I couldn't have a fling
With that potential other guy

I'm not ready
For going steady
I guess I will need more time
I not looking
For a steady Eddie
As I can't make up my mind

CV/History

I entered 5 songs in the UKSC songwriting contest 2022. All 5 of my entries received 5 star recognition. 3 of them have been awarded commended certificates. 1 of them SEND MY DADDY HOME FOR CHRISTMAS made the semi-final of the Christmas section. The other one is a lyrc in the protest/environmental lyric section THEY'VE GONE AWAY and reached the final of that section. Also, I had Shake The Snow Globe chosen for an independent artist Christmas compilation album called 37 Tales Of Christmas which was released in 2020. Also Little Dancing Shoes was chosen immediately for another independent Christmas compilation album called The Next Christmas Classics Vol 1, by a different company. With this record company and publisher the song was signed with a long term contract to be pitched for artists, sync, adverts and movies. This song is not shown on Songbay as it is an Exclusive contract for that song. I am also unexclusively with a music publisher in Nashville, where I have had 41 holds and relistens so far, (26 this year) but unfortunately none of those were cut. They are: Only Ghosts, No Place For Heroes, The Moods Of A Woman, Cover Girl, Crushed, Our Little Piece Of Heaven (twice), I Don't Do Mornings, Enchanted River (twice), Bad Apples (twice), All Electric Car (twice), Christmas Box, The Christmas Lights, So You Wanna Marry Me Huh, Keep The Doors Open In Nashville, Never Judge A Book By Its Cover (twice), A Wolf In Sheeps Clothing, Small Town Guy (3 times), Colour Outside The Lines (6 times).
