This is a plea for peace and unity swing
bringing the message of peace to the communities
stop the violence, put down the guns
increase the peace, increase the love

Bullets all around me, to my left and to my right
every hour of the day, morning, noon and night
parents' won't let their children out to play
afraid they won't live to see another day
shooting down our children before they even reach the age of five
never giving them a chance to live their lives
how in the world do you expect things to change
when we're killing off our hope each and every day

This is a plea for peace and unity swing
bringing the message of peace to the communities
stop the violence, put down the guns
increase the peace, increase the love

Gangsta brothers putting pressure on young men
saying if you carry a gun, it will make you a man
if you take somebody out, we'll put you in
you'll be down as a member of our gangsta crew
these young brothers may have another way
they may want to live their life in peace, not in hate
please give them a chance to make their own decisions
please give them a chance not to live in your prison

This is a plea for peace and unity swing
bringing the message of peace to the communities
stop the violence, put down the guns
increase the peace, increase the love

If you think selling drugs is not a violent act
then you've never seen a junkie when their monkey is on their back
when their jones comes down they get real mean
and will take you out without even a think
and that same junkie that you sell drugs to
will kill your momma and then sell her jewels
when they come around and you exchange drugs for money
you have no way of knowing it has your mother's blood on it

Although I own my own life, seems like I'll never be free
way too many folks telling me how to me be me
not paying my bills or carrying my pain
but telling me how to live my life every single day
got something to say about everything I do
from the way I wear my hair to how I kick my shoes
got an opinion about damn near everything
all up in my business like it ain't no thing

The nosiness of folks always amazes me
all up in your business from A-Z
never asked for your advice, wisdom or knowledge
no matter how many times I tell you, you just keep on offering

Seems everywhere I go there's always someone there
asking me questions, who? what? when? why? or where?
what does it matter to you how I live my life
not like you stepping up to help me fight this fight
you don't have anything to say that's even slightly constructive
lying, smiling faces, telling me how you can be trusted
trusted with my business that you don't even know
telling my made up business to the neighbor next door

The nosiness of folks always amazes me
all up in your business from A-Z
never asked for your advice, wisdom or knowledge
no matter how many times I tell you,you just keep on offering

Life is too short to have to deal with this mess
every day my patience is being put to the test
I try to be respectful and stay away from rude
but all this advice you offering does me no good
what might work for you, may not work for me
and I don't need you telling me what dream to dream
don't need you telling me who should sleep in my bed
or what I should to do to keep them there
far as I know I only have one life to live
and I don't need you telling me how to rock my s**t

Bacon is my baby

Everyone tells me you're no good for me
they say your daddy's a boar and your momma's a pig
they say you're fat and greasy with a salty attitude
but these are exactly the reasons that I love you
bacon is my baby, all crispy, hot and sweet
fried up, chopped up, served anyway you please
if you're not a bacon lover then you wouldn't understand
what's it like to have a bacon love affair

I crave my bacon morning, noon and night
don't want it in a salad, I want my bacon piled high
piled high on my burger with a side of fries
and if you wrapped it around my steak I don't think I would mind
bacon is my baby, all crispy, hot and sweet
fried up, chopped up, served anyway you please
if you're not a bacon lover then you wouldn't understand
what's it like to have a bacon love affair

Sitting at the table getting ready to eat
staring at my plate cause I don't like what I don't see
not seeing bacon, they trying to feed me fish
but if you're a bacon lover you know bacon is the s**t
so I duck out the back, into the alley down the street
that's where I go when I need to score a BLT
bacon is my baby, all crispy, hot and sweet
fried up, chopped up, served anyway you please
if you're not a bacon lover then you wouldn't understand
what's it like to have a bacon love affair

My family says that they've had enough of this
so here I sit at bacon anonymous
its really not as bad as I thought it would be
they said like any love affair you must be discreet
place your bacon between your flapjacks, not on the side
and if you want it on your burger, use lettuce as a disguise
stay out of alleys, go to the corner of Hog & Oink
there's a greasy little spot serving up all the bacon you want
bacon is my baby, all crispy, hot and sweet
fried up, chopped up, served anyway you please
if you're not a bacon lover then you wouldn't understand

I'm Sorry

I'm sorry, for breaking your heart
I love you and the kids and what I did
is tearing me apart
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for disrespecting you
I didn't think I got all caught up
and acted like a fool
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for the pain I caused the kids
they walk around with heads held down
acting like I don't exist
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for being so mean
as sweet as you are I started those fights
just so that I could leave
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for not coming home
for leaving you there all by yourself
sad broken and alone
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for not seeing the signs
had no idea she thought this was real
and that she thought she would be my wife
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, she went through my phone
found our address got a gun
and showed up at our home
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, she shot you dead
her doing life won't make this right
there are no winners in this game
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, you chose to love me
you paid the price, it cost you your life
all because I decided to cheat
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, her kids are alone
with no one to love or care for them
they're going into foster homes
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, I didn't understand
how so many lives can be destroyed
because of the acts of a selfish man
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, but I can't go on
I can't carry the pain can't carry the shame
of a simple affair gone wrong
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, that I can't kiss the kids good-bye
last time I saw them was at your grave
when they told me to leave their side
I'm sorry

I'm not sorry, that I'm calling it a day
so much damage has been done nobody has won
and I'll never be whole again
I'm sorry

I'm Sorry

The Storyteller

There once was a woman who lived in the projects
A woman so poor she fed her children garbage
The people on the bench would look the other way
As she searched through the garbage for the catch of the day
Not one of these people thought to reach out their hand
And say your problem is mine I understand
Instead they talked behind her back and they had big fun
As she looked for a way to feed her little ones
We can’t get to this if we’re doing that
We can’t get to there from here
We can’t win this war if we don’t reach out
Reach out and show that you care

In the same projects there’s a Mr. C
It’s short for Crack and he’s down right mean
This little white rock that you smoke through a pipe
Can kill your baby before you can give it life
Little by little he took control
While the people on the bench ran into their homes
They locked their doors and tried to hide from him
But little do they know that’s how he gets in
We can’t get to this if we’re doing that
We can’t get to there from here
We can’t win this war if we don’t fight back
Fight back and show that you care

Miss Etta Mae was the strength of the projects
Along with her age she brought wisdom and knowledge
She was a woman of courage who preached unity
She fed the hungry woman and she fought with Mr. C
The people on the bench told her mind your business
That’s Mr. C, he thinks nothing of killing
She said he’s killing our children so his business is mine
And I’m staying on his case until the day that I die
When Mr. C found out he shot her dead
While the people on the bench just shook their heads
They all saw him do it but wouldn’t tell the police
Unlike Etta Mae they were afraid of Mr. C
We can’t get to this if we’re doing that
We can’t get to there from here
We can’t win this war if we don’t unite
Unite and show that you care

There once was a woman who lived in the projects
A woman so poor she fed her children garbage
This woman has died, she’s buried she’s gone
But now her children are hungry and they're all alone

In the same projects there’s a Mr. C
It’s short for Crack and he’s down right mean
The people on the bench say he keeps his strength
By killing off the Etta Maes’

Miss Etta Mae is the strength of the projects
Along with her age she brought wisdom and knowledge
She was shot down dead by Mr. C
But he never served his time because the people set him free

The people on the bench are still sitting there
Sitting back like they just don’t care
It seems these people will never know
That when these women died, they died alone
We can’t get to this if we’re doing that
We can’t get to there from here
We can’t win this war by sitting back
Stand up and show that you care

Dinner at Eight

It was dinner at eight at the Bossman's house
he was a very small man who carried big clout
everyone there was dressed to the nines
all of us pretending to have a good time
when Bossman introduced me as a credit to my race
I knew the only way to keep my job was to show some social grace
so I said its very nice to meet you the pleasure its all mine
damn the things that we won't say and do to keep our 9 to 5

When I turned I saw her the lady of my dreams
standing there with a tray asking may I serve you please
yes please wrap your love around me your beauty makes me weak
I'd like to take you out sometime to get a bite to eat
she said sir you should know better its not socially correct
for you to try to mix and mingle with the hired help

All these social graces are just silliness to me
I mean just who the hell and what and where is this etiquette police

Just then Bossman came on over to see if I was fine
said I'd like to get to know her better
please sir if you don't mind
he said don't worry about it fella I got the girl for you
you'll meet her at the dinner table its the proper thing to do
as we gathered around the table I was about to take a seat
when Bossman took me by the arm and said your place is next to me
so I sat down next to Bossman Broom Hilda is on my right
a woman so homely Bossman had to dim the lights

All these social graces are just silliness to me
I mean just who the hell and what and where is this etiquette police

This twelve course meal is over and my stomach ain't right
I need to use the bathroom but know I should sit tight
I cannot leave this table it would be rude to leave my seat
I mean God forbid I'm shot down dead by the etiquette police
so I whispered to the Bossman your choices are two
I can either leave this table or I can light up this here room
then I leaned a little closer and said Bossman here's a tip
you cannot serve a twelve course meal then think it rude to s**t

All these social graces are just silliness to me
I mean just who the hell and what and where is this etiquette police

Its 3 a.m.and all I got is Gibberish

Pen to paper, I'm trying to write my next song
its 3 a.m. and I'm kinda lost
I searched my mind, but seems there's nothing left
its 3 a.m. and all I got is gibberish

Lets see, I rap attacked you and wrote the blues
talked about love and how it can be cruel
told a tale about teen age pregnancy
and had an opinion on social etiquettecy

Talked about the good, the bad and the ugly
and about my man who has no money
I wrote a song about living in the projects
and a very sad song about side chick damage

Pen to paper, I'm trying to write my next song
its 3 a.m. and I'm kinda lost
I searched my mind, but seems there's nothing left
its 3 a.m. and all I got is gibberish

I searched for words lost in my mind
my words told me, go to sleep, its beddy bye time
lay your butt down and get some rest
cause if you keep looking for me all you'll find is gibberish

So laid my butt down and did as I was told
mind still searching for words that would hold
thought if I take the word this and called it that
before I could finish, my words said, girl take a nap
you're looking for words that are full and rich
but its 3 a.m. and all I got is gibberish
my words told me tomorrow is another day
get some rest, maybe then we can play

Pen to paper, I'm trying to write my next song
its 3 a.m. and I'm kinda lost
I searched my mind, but seems there's nothing left
its 3 a.m. and all I got is gibberish

Lil Akeem

Sitting down, getting ready to eat
when little boy walks in and says grandma can you please feed me
I look around wondering who he's talking to
thinking to myself, I ain't no kin to you
my son says stop playing momma, you know that's Lil Akeem
he's your step-grandson, he's son of my baby momma number 3
step-grandson of baby momma number 3?
what the hell is that, what does that even mean?
boy, don't come in here trying to double talk me
cause I don't want the title of step-grandma to Lil Akeem
who is son of your baby momma number 3

I love my kids, I swear I do
but they work my nerves when they get to acting like a fool
its not enough they grown and living with me
ain't paying rent, but bringing home mouths to feed

Lil Akeem is cute and very sweet
happy and smiling as I give him a bite to eat
tell my son sorry, when he's done, he's gone
there are enough kids in this house and I don't want no more
my son doesn't understand what the problem is
with him helping his girl raise another man's kid
so I asked my son just so I could be clear
I'm raising yours, while your raising his?

I love my kids, I swear I do
but they work my nerves when they get to acting like a fool
its not enough they grown and living with me
ain't paying rent, but bringing home mouths to feed

When Lil Akeem is done he comes over to me
climbs up in my lap and then falls asleep
I really don't want the title that has been bestowed upon me
but it looks like I'm now the step-grandma of Lil Akeem
who is the son of my son's baby momma number 3

when they told me to leave their side
I'm sorry

I'm not sorry, that I'm calling it a day
so much damage has been done nobody has won
and I'll never be whole again
I'm sorry

I'm Sorry

I'm sorry, for breaking your heart
I love you and the kids and what I did
is tearing me apart
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for disrespecting you
I didn't think I got all caught up
and acted like a fool
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for the pain I caused the kids
they walk around with heads held down
acting like I don't exist
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for being so mean
as sweet as you are I started those fights
just so that I could leave
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for not coming home
for leaving you there all by yourself
sad broken and alone
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, for not seeing the signs
had no idea she thought this was real
and that she thought she would be my wife
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, she went through my phone
found our address got a gun
and showed up at our home
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, she shot you dead
her doing life won't make this right
there are no winners in this game
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, you chose to love me
you paid the price, it cost you your life
all because I decided to cheat
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, her kids are alone
with no one to love or care for them
they're going into foster homes
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, I didn't understand
how so many lives can be destroyed in a single moment
by the acts of a selfish man
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, but I can't go on
I can't carry the pain can't carry the shame
of a simple affair gone wrong
I'm sorry

I'm sorry, that I can't kiss the kids good-bye
last time I saw them was at your grave
when they told me to leave their side
I'm sorry

I'm not sorry, that I'm calling it a day
so much damage has been done nobody has won
and I'll never be whole again
