Streets of Grange Park

You were high on ecstasy, covered in swollen welts
You were, in complete denial of yourself
You hooked the streets, to pay for more drugs
Totally, oblivious you weren’t clean
On the streets of Grange Park

I tried to make you see, but all you did was ignore me
You claimed, it was only from the ecstasy
Then you stumbled away, hooking for more pills
Popping more even though you are very ill
On the streets of Grange Park

There's no way I’ll ever go to your wedding
It’s just you and your demons beloved friend
My hope for you has run dry
I can’t even bring myself to cry
I can’t save you anymore

The day is long and cold
I start to break down
I lean down and give your cheek a kiss
You are cold, cold as stone, free from
“The Streets of Grange Park”

Streets Of Grange Park

She arrived at the party
The music was blasting
Feet were grooving to the sound of the beat
Her heart skipped a beat
Ya, it was a night to remember
A night to cherish forever

Her friend gave her a pill
And said here take this
She swallowed it
10 mins later
She was flying high reaching for the sky

She felt euphoric
A feeling she had never felt before
She felt alive
Whatever trauma was going on at home disappeared

She kept going to more and more parties
She went to every party she was invited to
Popping pills like they were candy
Eating shrooms like they were tossed salad

Popping acid like it was liquid gold
Not caring about her grades
Skipping classes instead
To escape her reality

She wakes up shivering
She reaches into her pocket
Pulls out four dimes
She peers through tinted black sunglasses

She opens the door to her broken down 90’s honda civic
She stands on the street corner and begs for change
Just to get a hot coffee
She goes into tim hortons bathroom

Her grey hair is matted to her face
A flashback crosses her mind as she looks in the mirror
She sees herself dancing the night away high on x-tacy
She forces a smile but frowns instead
If only she hadn’t taken a pill that night

Then maybe she wouldn’t be living in her broken down car
Maybe she wouldn’t be begging for change to get her next fix

Maybe she would have had a better future
Instead of suffering from her drug addiction
All because she cared too much about her Popularity

I am happy for you
Truly happy for you that you have a friend

Even though you scared mine away
By punching me in the head missing and punching the door instead
Which caused me to run away
Which caused me trust issues for life

But ya, I am happy for you
Truly happy for you

As I battle trust issues every day
And I find it hard to let people in

Cause I am afraid they will hurt me
Just like you did
Cause I am afraid they will hurt me
Just like you did

But ya, I am happy for you
Truly happy for you
That you have a friend
Even though mine was scared away

And they never came back again

Happy For You

Verse 1

Her skin turned blue, eyes rolled in her head
I will never forget, the look on your face
When you asked me
If she was going to be ok

Chorus

And the heroin ran through her veins
The heroin ran through her veins

Verse 2

She was rushed to emergency
Everyone thought she was dead
An hour later she was back doing heroin again

Chorus

And the heroin ran through her veins
The heroin ran through her veins

Verse 3

I tried to stop her

But, there was nothing I could do
Her demons were too strong
Sadly, she had no clue

Chorus

And the heroin ran through her veins
The heroin ran through her veins

Bridge

If only she didn’t have permanent scars on her back
From her dad abusing her with a hot iron
If only she had a safe, home to go to

Instead of living in a homeless shelter

Chorus

Then maybe... just maybe....

Her heart wouldn’t be scarred for life
Maybe...just maybe...
The heroin wouldn’t run through her veins
And maybe... just maybe...
She’d...Be...Saved...

Heroin

Behind Homeless Shelter Doors,

She's eating crackers and water
Cause it’s all she has left
And the mice and birds she lives with
Have all become her friends
And the ecstasy she's on…
Has lost its sweet charm

Chorus

Inside Eva's Pheonix

Where were you?
When she was dying of hunger
Suffering from a deadly disease
Cause you kicked her out on the streets

Just cause she threw a party
One party!
Cause, she wanted to fit in
Just like every teen does

But she never thought you would kick her out of your heart
Never thought you would make her a victim of your demons
She never felt like you loved her, cause if you had
You would have saved her from the danger she was in

You are very mentally ill
And you don’t even realize it
To throw your daughter out on the streets
When she has a metal rod in her back
Just for making a mistake
Is fxxxing crazy!

You’re shocked she is still alive today
You should have never had her
You didn’t deserve her
She deserved someone better then you

Where Were You?

I sent you a photo of when we were teens
You looked so cool sitting beside me on the patio chair
With your heart-shaped sunglasses on
And glass of cherry kool-aide in hand
My heart melts every time I am reminded
Of the good time’s we had

Now, you scrape the residue from the bottom of your pipe just to get high
You beg me for money everyday
You work the streets at night so you can get your next hit
You scream and yell at me when you go through with-drawl

Tell me, what went wrong?
I thought you were cool before
But you never thought you were
You think your cool now
But you’re not

Ruining your body is not cool
Altering your brain is not cool
You laugh but its not funny
How you are slowly killing yourself

Tell me, what went wrong?
When you seemed happy as a kid
Tell me, what demons take over you?
Now, that you are hooked on rock

Good Ole Days

Verse 1

I miss the days we rode on top of a firebird, while speeding in the cemetary
How we danced around the fire, while drunk and high at the town park party
How we drank hot chocolate, while chillin at the beach after pulling an all nighter
Hell! Those were some good times, awesome memories to last a life time…

Chorus

Now, we make sure the kids are in bed at nine
And that they hand in their homework on time
Sometimes it gets so exhausting, I can’t help but let my mind…
Wander away…. To the good old daze

Verse 2

Of when we used to hotwire cars, then go for a joy ride
Take off to your cottage, go skinny dipping in the lake
Dance on top of the tables, while singing karaoke
Go Bar hopping, till the wee hours of the morning

Chorus

Now, we have bills to pay, mouths to feed
And it ain’t about us, much anymore….
Sometimes it gets so hard, making sure there ok
I can’t help but let my mind wander, to the good old daze

Bridge

But, even though those days are long and gone
We have created new memories to last a life time
The time our son was on CP24 for winning best dancer
And how he ran for terry fox to raise money for cancer
Now, I can sit here and wish that I could live the good old daze again
Or, I can enjoy all the new memories we have created since then

Chorus

The time tyler gave me a mother’s day card made of macaroni
How we made each other laugh when our car broke down
I just realized that I am still the luckiest women in the world
Cause, I get to be a part of the good ole days we have now!
