We met in Aberdeen,
at a barbecue.
It was on Halloween
and I fell for you.

You had a bag of green.
I done brought some brew.
And, well we made a scene
‘til the crew said shoo!

Now I feel green,
no longer blue.
Like a new machine,
I hum for you.

I bought some new blue jeans
and a cool tattoo.
Hair combed with brilliantine,
ooh, I feel brand new.

Feels like a brand new scene.
All because of you,
I got some self esteem
and the skies are blue.

Well, I feel green,
no longer blue.
Like a new machine,
I’ll hum for you.

I got some gasoline.
What you wanna do?
Oh we can misdemean;
hit the avenue.

It’s like a bag of green
or a case of brew.
I’m high on dopamine.
I’m so high on you.

Oh I feel green
and you do too.
Drive this new machine;
just me and you.

Bad River

we came out west in a wagon
just my wife, my son and me
looking for a better life
just longing to live free

we found a place to settle down
just west of the Missouri
a bad fever took my wife
she’s buried by the tree

oh bad river won’t you take me
to an island that’s called Joy
I hope this log will take me
to the place I long to go

the flood took my only son,
the house, the barn and tree
I’m so tired of endless strife
I pray my God to thee

so oh my God won’t you take me
to the place where I’ll be free
to be with my wife and boy
oh please just make it so

oh bad river won’t you take me
to an island that’s called Joy
I hope this log will take me
to the place I long to go

you lied when you said you loved me
I’m like a tooth with a cavity
I died inside
I’ve no more pride
your stealing my dignity

I can’t leave, even though I want to
my friends they say I should
jelly on the inside
I’m calm on the outside
but I can not let go of you

your electromagnetic
revolving round you
I am so pathetic
stuck on you like glue

you act like there’s no deity
and you don’t care if I see
pretty on the outside
devil on the inside
a black hole of depravity

I’m gum underneath your shoe
just a piece of firewood
a chicken deep fried
but still too raw inside
I don’t know why I bother

In a restaurant lounge
situated downtown
you were such a tease
let's have one more please
just one more glass of crown

the twinkle in your eyes
the tinkle of the ice
we sipped another glass
your far from second class
you leaned in to entice

arm around your shoulder
grew a little bolder
insecurities
melt in antifreeze
both a little nearer

you walked me home that night
it all just felt so right
just past the corner store
left me wanting more
but didn't spend the night

once there, you kissed me twice
you should have tossed the dice
you left me at the door
left me wanting more
of your magnetic eyes

you left me at the door
you never got the tour
gave you my number
never got the call
I'm crawling on the floor

weren't no mother/son kiss
weren't no we're just friends kiss
never got to dance
might have had a chance
by my analysis

Left me at the door
