VERSE

Cross-legged in the grass,
The sun rolls down my arms and back.
Shut eyes, lose track,
See life in pink and black.

PRE CHORUS

Breathe out, breathe in, let the ritual begin.
Breathe out, breathe in, let the ritual begin.

CHORUS

Summer ritual, it fills your mind, it fills your soul,
You are beautiful, in your summer ritual.
Summer ritual, it fills your heart, it fills your soul
You are beautiful, in your summer ritual.

VERSE

Shadows beyond the hills,
Life caught in photographs and stills.
Let darkness come to fill,
My heavy heart holds what is real.

Summer ritual, it fills your mind, it fills your soul
You are beautiful, in your summer ritual.
Summer ritual, it fills your heart, it fills your soul
You are beautiful, in your summer ritual.

VERSE

Still cross-legged in the grass,
The sun’s set on my arms and back.
But I stay still, relax,
Let rhythmic time elapse.

BRIDGE

Beautiful, you’re so beautiful,
Let the world sparkle at your touch.
See each moment now
Mysteries in each vow,
To fill our heart and soul and make us whole.
Make us beautiful.

Summer Ritual

VERSE

Summer got lost in the viscous heat,
Tarmac’s melting and it sticks to my feet.

Looks in this city don’t count for a lot,
The shower is cold but my skin’s burning hot.

CHORUS

Oooh gotta get out of this place
But I’m running in circles and you’ve stopped giving chase.
I left the key in the room before
Now I’m no longer sure what I wanted it for.

VERSE

When night-time comes, it’s a strangest grace,
Eking out the moonlight in a lonely place.

I lean from window and shout to the street,
But there’s no one to hear, everybody’s asleep.

CHORUS

Oooh gotta get out of this place,
But I’m running in circles and you’ve stopped giving chase.
I left the key in the room before,
Now I’m no longer sure what I wanted it for.

What I wanted it for, what was I wanting it for
Now I’m no longer sure what I wanted it for.

INSTRUMENTAL

VERSE

I hope for rain, but my dance brings sun,
I’m waiting for someone, I don’t think he will come.

I want my freedom you’ve forgotten my rights,
Want to feel content, but disillusion is rife.

CHORUS

Oooh gotta get out of this place,
But I’m running in circles and you’ve stopped giving chase.
I left the man in the room before,
But now I’m no longer sure what I wanted him for.
Oooh gotta get out of this place,
but I’m running in circles and you’ve stopped giving chase.
I left my youth in the room before
but now I’m no longer sure what I wanted it for.
[fade out]
Oooh gotta get out of this place.
Oooh gotta get out of this place.
Oooh gotta get out of this place.

Get Out

VERSE

You keep bodies in the darkroom
Let them pile against the door
Memories of times that came before.
You speak of truth and wisdom
Cross your fingers when you pray
Hope’s fickle wind a promise that won’t stay.

CHORUS

How could I know
You would end here on your own?
How could I know
We were on a one-way road?
The sun in our hair and one bus fare in our pocket was all we owned
Travelling to anywhere at all.

VERSE

You hold your breath in silence
Underwater you must rise
Hair rippling like thunder as you’re dragged up to the light.
Bad timing triggers laughter, one of your many sins
You mourn for each small ending in the nook of every win.

CHORUS

How could I know
You would end here on your own?
How could I know
We were on a one-way road?
The sun in our hair and one bus fare in our pocket was all we owned
Travelling to anywhere at all.

INSTRUMENTAL

VERSE

You can seek your happy ending, you might find your great reprise
If you let your footsteps follow on each drum beat’s sway and rise.
And new watercolour sirens will bloom out from the earth
Each brushstroke bringing colour in fresh frankincense and myrrh.

CHORUS

How could I know
You would end here on your own?
How could I know
We were on a one-way road?
The sun in our hair and one bus fare in our pocket was all we owned
Travelling on that long and dusty road
Yes we were travelling
With no place left to go
So we were travelling
To anywhere at all.

One-Way Road

A heavy night in June, and fallen moonlight chases wind
The trees all paint dark shadows and the crickets rub their wings
To let them sing, oooh how they sing.
The rusted frame and arms too strong, they hold you to the ground
You call out to the treetops but there’s nobody around
To hear you sing, oooh a lonely wind.

When night sheds it skin
And your eyes are tightly closed
You curl up inside
And cross your fingers and your toes
And pray, that the words etched in wood
Will fade some day.

Years ago, that same dirt path, racing through wild winds
Each footstep holds an echo and the way that we'd both sing
Oooh we'd sing.
Lift up your arms my brother they're wings!

Hoped for rain with every dance
And love with every song
Prayed moonlight would not leave us
If we closed our eyes too long
It always did, awaking to
Early morning’s kiss.

INSTRUMENTAL

The people, on that dirt path, swept up in wild winds
They cannot hear their voices and cannot stretch their wings
But still they sing, oooh they sing.
To the treetops from the ground, how they sing, oh they sing
It’s such a lonely sound.

Sing

VERSE

He lies there next to me sleeping, how can he sleep
When my mind is so loud.
He lies there next to me dreaming, but how can I see
What his dreams are about.
There’s a valley in the middle of the bed and it holds us far apart
Things we cannot say weigh down our hearts.

CHORUS

Let’s stop playing these games,
Won’t fold away my pain, cos it’s out, now.
So insincere
It’s never easy my dear
To let go.
Let it fall through your fingers
Get lost in the wind
And take flight.
Sometimes however much you pretend it ain’t right.

VERSE

Do you hear what I say, say I’m not making you happy
You’re not making me happy too.
The dream-catcher’s broken and the words that we’ve spoken
All linger in the air to view.
There’s a ghost in our eyes, our love a match we can’t light, any more.
We’d try again but we’ve said it all before.

CHORUS

Let’s stop playing these games,
Won’t fold away my pain, cos it’s out, now.
So insincere
It’s never easy my dear
To let go.
Let it fall through your fingers
Get lost in the wind
And take flight.
Sometimes however much you pretend it ain’t right.

BRIDGE

Oooohhh it’s never easy to take flight.
So cold inside you’ve lost all sign
of that light which once shone on your life.
Oooohhhh it’s never easy to give up on
The dreams that you built. Every brick that you placed,
Every challenge you faced, the loss of those plans that you spilt.
But you know, there’s a time...

CHORUS

Let’s stop playing these games,
Won’t fold away my pain, cos it’s out, now.
So insincere
It’s never easy my dear
To let go.
Let it fall through your fingers
Get lost in the wind
And take flight.
Sometimes however much you pretend it ain’t right.

Dream Catcher Broken

VERSE

The world can feel a lonely place.
Chasing fading shadows of a smile and a face.
But they left you long ago and now you’re struggling alone
You should know,
Yes, you should know.

CHORUS

When you’re following stars but see they’re satellites
They won’t lead you home.
When you realise your map’s from a story book
And it’s all wrong.
When the lights you thought would guide you all go out
You’re not alone.
I, will be your compass in the storm.
I, won’t let you wander on your own.
I, will hold your hand, footsteps right besides you
Until you’re home.

VERSE

Sometimes in life, it feels too much.
The path your on is overgrown and everyone’s lost touch.
Feel like you’re just waiting for it all to begin
Don’t give in
No don’t give in.

BRIDGE

So keep on walking
You know you’re close.
Keep on walking
Not far to go.
Keep on walking
I know you’re stronger
Than you ever, ever could have known.
Keep on walking
You’re almost home

Until You're Home

I keep a photo in the drawer
Don’t know what I’m keeping it for
The girl inside has long since gone
But maybe something lingers on
In the woman I’ve become.

A spotty shirt and a patterned skirt
Linking arms with someone I can barely recall,
Meant something to the girl.
Adulthood crept up too fast
Settling like dusk; uninvited. (Uninvited.)

I keep a photo in the drawer
Don’t know what I’m keeping it for
The girl inside has long since gone
But maybe something lingers on
In the woman I’ve become.

The corners curl and the colours fade
And when I catch her smile it seems something from a dream.
Not quite as it seems, makes me sad.
Creeping up too fast to slide away
I know it’s gone another day,
I can’t reclaim that last goodbye
That never came, no warning
When you turn around its simply gone.

I keep a photo in the drawer
Don’t know what I’m keeping it for
The girl inside has long since gone
But maybe something lingers on
In the woman I’ve become.

I realise now though the colours fade
That the girl inside the photograph will never go away,
She’s still here today, like any day.
Travelling with me through every smile, round bend
She finds her way into my joys
And cries beside me at their end
And when I swirl a patterned skirt
It is her laughter fills the air
I know she’s there.
Travelling with me, my closest friend.

I keep a photo in the drawer
Don’t know what I’m keeping it for
The girl inside has long since gone
But maybe something lingers on
In the woman I’ve become.
