Flicker

My mind plays tricks
Sorry for that
Can’t ignore the haunting facts
The time which now, has passed
Since I saw you last

Why do you come back now?
Have you remembered me somehow?
A flame which burnt out long ago
I just saw flicker
Now I know
Somethings coming
Let it flow.

The coming of the falling leaves
Means more than that for you and me
The month which started love and change
Now a journey lone and strange

Now I watch as those leaves die
Each one to go I question why
We let these season we met as one
Tear us apart and see us done

I don’t recall this time last year
When I lost hope and swallowed fear
Yet here we are
So far so near

You’re back around?
What have you found?
Am I still here?
For you I always am, my dear.

Flicker

Late, too late
In life and time

The clock goes three,
Silence is mine

The hum of dawn comes
From above

This old stronghold
One I loved

Crazy how much life can change
It used to blossom,
Now just strange

A shadow of once, a better me
Laid in this room
The world to see…

A former fortress on its knees
Demons lurking, for the siege
To conquer what appears it all
But all they find is empty halls.

Life’s cruel trick
The warp of time

Don’t be brave
Just stay in line

Accept the things
That cannot be

But don’t allow
Them all to see

You’re broken,
You’re tired
And you’re afraid,
Of all the moves that you have made.

A former fortress on its knees
Vultures circling, high on greed
To swoop in low and claim whats left
A carcus of a man bereft.

Former Fortress

Does time forever pass this fast
Like grains of falling sand
Running rings around you
As it slips right through your hand

A moment changes everything
Brings strange along the way
Although it may not feel right yet
The light is on its way

To guide you through the fiercest storm
And always keep you close
Put its arm around you when
You need one there the most

It’s just a grain of time and then
I swear it goes away
So make the most of every quiet day.

Grain of Time

The outcome came and went
Without a breath
Years of awe, and wonder taken
Now nothings left

Taken by a breath
Which closed the door
A door slammed shut
Left un-hinged, so you gave up

You gave up
You let it win
I was not easy
That’s just it
Easier to throw away,
Than see me quit

Your change in ignorance chose to ignore
The person pleading on the floor

All I needed was for you
To even try and understand
I don’t need anything except
To hold my hand, and help me up.

Tried to figure it out
Without you there
I can’t be near you,
When you just don’t care.

That’s the final nail
The curtain call
You’re too important
Too high to fall
You sacrificed the one that was forever
To fight and face the world together

A change in ignorance
Has fucked it all.

Change in Ignorance

Decaying thoughts lost in the wind,
The water trying to seep in
Forcing change is not the way
Natural breakthroughs must be made
One of honesty,
Not of greed
Let hopes pass,
They’ll one day be.

This time is pressing,
A looming black

Back to basics,
Further still
Relentless energy to consume
Words appear
Thoughts don’t fade

Solitary moments in a break in the rain.

This place once filled, in a better me
A life of love and prosperity
The love remains but scarred and black,
Tainted, bruised, under attack.
A memory of them, and you.

Searching for something,
Once so ripe
Now dead, the good times,
Locked deep outta sight.

A purpose will come,
Whether near, or so far
As the bell tower goes six.
I reach for a star
A town I hold dear
Memories remain
As I scribble my heartache
In a break in the rain.

A Break in the Rain

Take a deep breath
Let it seep in
Control your fears, and now
We can begin

The stars above start calling
Who knows we’re here?
Is it just me who hears them?
Am I supposed to listen in?

They want to know
Why we are here
Who do we answer to and,
Do we all fear

What we don’t know
Or understand
They want to find the answer
To take over our land

I can hear the silence breaking,
Whilst I feel the earth start shaking,
The sky just started talking
And now I know we have to listen in.

How do we say
We’re not alone
After seeing life above us,
From your quiet home

The sky is clear as crystal
And all I see
Is shining lights, and stars,
Staring back at me

Life is oh so simple,
And feels just right,
Until the sky decided
To change the way of life

Is this our private secret?
Who knows the truth about our world?
The one above us right now, above your home,
Dreams remain what you make them,
They’ll guide you where you want to go
But I don’t need reminding,
No I don’t need reminding,
There’s life amongst us,
We are not alone.

Is the Sky Talkin'?

This arc bleeds electricity
The sultans of our inquiry,
Into the this sinking ship
Drained of all life

The boardwalks creaking in the wake
The waves don’t give
They only take
Lives, and hearts and bags of bloody bones

Sink or swim can’t run away
We’ve got to fix this mess today
It’s no-ones fault
The captain lost his mind

Can’t wash away without a fight
At the mercy of the night
Which looms with darkness
No sign of the sun.

Somebody has got to pay
Before this graveyard sinks away,
Can’t sweep under the rug,
The alibis

That iceberg wasn’t in the way
We changed our course,
As if to say
Surrender all your lives now,
To the sea.

One man knew he’d had enough
So set the course,
Into the rough-est,
Sea no man had ever been before.

The only way of getting out,
Was diving off the highest bow
For a few more seconds,
Freezing as you fall

Into our planet’s greatest beast,
The mercy of the darkest sea,
Where lives are taken
Merciless as all.

About Me

Bio

I have been writing music since the age of 9. I have always had a head full of words and an urge to write them down. Being a lyricist/musician is an incredibly rewarding job, as you have the full circle experience of writing, and then hearing/playing the song live to loads of people. I have been playing drums and guitar from the age of 6/7, and play drums in 2 bands. I write a lot of my music on piano and guitar. My style ranges from Heavy Rock ballads to to soft piano pieces and acoustic guitar-led heart
eakers.
