Verse:
One moment I’m mellow, and the next melodramatic
My head’s in the sky right when I need to be pragmatic
And by way of charms I’m lacking, I was never charismatic.
I’m erratic, enigmatic, apathetic yet fanatic
The way I’m always in my head, well it can be quite problematic
But when it comes to you, I swear my love is emphatic

Chorus:
Baby I’m crazy, that much is true
Maybe the only good thing about me is you
But if you stick around long enough to see this through
Just watch and see how well I can love you

Verse
I’m self-centered and selfish, my heart likes to roam
I don’t leave the house but I’m never at home
I get close, then get skittish and don’t pick up the phone
I pack up and leave town when my cover is blown
With all these bad habits to which I am prone
Never once have you left me to fight them alone.
Which is why…

CHORUS

Bridge:
Honey, I’m not good for much but to you I’ll be true
So come on over, let me show you just how well I can love you.

How Well I Can Love You

Verse 1:
You say that you love me, but won’t show me your true face
Then all to soon when daylight comes you’re lost without a trace
And I know that your mama never liked me much
But honey we’ve something even Venus couldn’t touch
You play tricks on me, but every night your love is true
So reveal yourself to me now and tell me what to do

Chorus:
I think that Cupid’s messing with my psyche
But any chance I’ll give up on this love is unlikely
We put each other through the ringer like love is something we can earn
But hot oil dripping on our faces, we both like the way it burns

Verse 2:
Maybe I’m too curious, but I’m the one who sets you free
And baby come what may I keep you coming back for me
So let’s keep a good thing going and let’s see what we could be
Love, don’t pay attention to their lies or jealousy
We play tricks on each other, but I swear our love is true
So keep on rescuing me, I’ll go to hell and back for you

Bridge:
Yeah, they say that love can complicate the mind
Sometimes it’ll be your eyes, sometimes it leaves you blind
But we’ve got cash and we’ve got each other, so let’s leave it all behind
‘Cause I swear you’re still the best thing that I never thought I’d find.

Cupid's Messing With My Psyche

Verse 1:
Dear Stranger, I must confess I want to do it all with you
From first fights to late nights to dates at the zoo
I want to lay in your arms by a dying fireside
And when the birdsong hails the morning I’d still be there by your side
Our bodies, our souls, our fates would all intertwine
Don’t want to throw you back like whiskey, I’d rather savor you like wine
I swear, when we meet, it’ll be fates design

Chorus:
I’ve been waiting for somebody who can get under my skin
My greatest boast, my greatest secret, the softest of sins
So dear stranger come find me, and we’ll let it all begin

Verse 2:
We’d smile over coffee in the morning and sip tea on our porch at night
Come what may, at the end of the day, you and I would be alright
And I’d say I could do anything as long as you hold me tight
We both have things to work through, I guess
And it’s true you deserve better than my mess
But if one day I can come to you, I would count myself most blessed
I’m not that great a person; but to you I’d give my best

Dear Stranger

Intro/Lead in:
Look here, darling... If you really want me, your style’d better be jazzed up
Verse 1:
Tell me that you love me just the way I look tonight
Love, the best is yet to come, so let’s take our time and do this right
My world was wrapped in darkness, but now you shine so bright
So my sunny one, be true, and I’ll be there for you too
Be my luck, I’ll be your lady, we’ll take off into the night
From Manhattan to the moon, come with me and let’s take flight
Chorus:
I want a love that feels like an old time swinging band
A love to walk the streets with me, a love to hold my hand
Because you know old Frankie, well he never did me wrong
I want you to love me like a Sinatra song
Verse 2:
I don’t want a mere fling, or “just one of those things,”
I want a love that leads to dinner dates and rings
I used to do things my way until you got under my skin
Now we’re both singing “love and marriage,” so shall we begin?
I promise now to treat you right, be a lady not a tramp
So let’s play those classic records; love and good music don’t need revamped
Bridge (or Verse 3 or bridge):
So baby come and play me like a tuned up jazz piano
A little ragtime, little blues, you’ll be the bass to my soprano
That rock and pop and hip-hop love can’t make me sing, sing, sing
I you really want me, well just give me some swing
I might let you have it if you play the scales just right
Make those keys jingle and dance and we can play all night

Love Me Like a Sinatra Song

Verse 1:
Yeah I wear Gucci Bloom, because, well, I suppose
The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and his nose
Fresh as a daisy and fragrant as a rose
My perfume’s always poppin’, and everybody knows that

Chorus:
I’ve got that Gucci Bloom
That makes the boys’ hearts go boom-boom
Heads on a swivel as I enter the room
Trying to get a whiff of my eau de parfum
No he can’t resist a sniff of my Gucci Bloom

Verse 2:
Sippin’ on fire-water wearing acqua de fiori
Leave the party early if the convos start to bore me
So for all my ladies who like to write their own story
Put your bottles in the air, breeze by con buoni odori

Bridge:
Dior, Chanel, la vie est belle
Guilty, Bamboo, l'amour est bleu

Gucci Bloom

Verse 1:
I think this is my jazz age; my world is turning green and gold
Baby, let’s make this our jazz age, we ain’t ever growing old
So call in the big bands and flappers, and we’ll let the good times roll
A generation forged from war, and an empire built on credit
Adrift in bootleg booze and glitter, it’ll drive you crazy if you let it
A little brassy, little sassy, acting out just like we should
Like Al Capone, a little gangster, bad has never looked so good

Chorus:
This is our jazz age, this is our roaring twenties
A cornucopia, horn of plenty, counting dollars ‘stead of pennies
And if depression rolls around and the fields return to dust
We’d still have each other and we could still adjust
Trade our gold in for aluminum so we’ll never rust
After all, the times are fickle, but love, each other we can trust

Verse 2:
I think this is my jazz age, I hear the sax and trumpet sound
Release all our inhibitions as we go and paint the town
Babe, we made it, what’d I tell you? I said I wouldn’t let you down...
Still, I don’t want to be like Gatsby, holding on to long-dead dreams
Chasing green lights and green paper, well it’s never what it seems
The ones living in the fast lane, they’re all beautiful but damned
But we’re in it for the endgame, and we’ve got a whole lot planned

Bridge or Outro:
We’ve been to war and back again, but the world will soon be still
Take the good times as they come and we’ll revel in the thrill
Charleston through our lives no matter what the future brings
So make that baseline swing, and I’ll teach you how to sing,
Even when our jazz age ends, we’ll still have horns and drums and strings.

About Me

Bio

Hello! My name is A
ielle. I am just beginning to dabble in lyrics and writing in general. I have a background in English, foreign languages, and the humanities, but my writing has been primarily academic thus far, so I am ready to find my own voice :-). I have been involved in music for a long time as well, from piano and voice lessons, to show choir and musical theater, to playing the saxophone in band and a collegiate course. That being said, I do not play piano or guitar well enough to compose or put my words to a rhythm, so if my lyrics make the grade I am hoping to pass them on to someone with more musical knowledge. If you are reading this, thank you so much for viewing my content- I hope I can make it worth your while!
