Intro:
I wandered through the woods today, to see what I could find
Or perhaps to lose myself and find my peace of mind.

Verse 1:
I stretched myself out on a fallen tree
and watched the cloudless sky through the canopy.
The gentle breeze and the light on the leaves
Almost tricked me into feeling at ease;
I thought, “here where no one can see me, I’ll rest as I please.”
So I lazed about, thinking of what I could learn
From wildlife and saplings and thistles and ferns

CHORUS:
I wandered through the woods today, to see what I could find
Or perhaps to lose myself and find my peace of mind.
I wished I could stay forever that way
Until like Autumn leaves I began to decay

Verse 2:
And in my mind’s eye, I thought I could see
A a young gypsy spirit, wild and carefree
Magic and miracles danced in her eyes
She looked at me, and to my surprise
Her eyes were my own, and the gypsy was me
A girl who I was, but no longer could be.
“You haven’t given me up yet, have you?,” Said she.
But I remained silent, still perched on my tree.

Verse 3:
“My dear fairy queen,” chimed a voice in my head,
“Is the magic within your heart truly dead?
Why look so solemn, why seem so bereaved?
What happened to the young girl who believed?”
“She’s gone now,” I said. “Growing up made it so.”
The voice only laughed and said, “How do you know?
Miracles still happen, when you learn to let go.
Perhaps with some sunlight, your dreams can still grow.

Bridge or Outro
I wished that you could have been there with me
So we could both feel at peace as we sat on that tree.
But there was still work to do, and no time left to roam
So I got off my log and I started for home.
