There’s a story bout an old man
Who used to live round this way
People say at night they can hear him
Some even see him some days
They say he whispers to the children
Warns them of future mistakes
I remember one night he told me
One day you’ll die, then you’ll wake

These dark nights
In the pouring rain
They can make you go crazy, people
Go Insane
But for me, I get comfort
I dont feel no pain
Walkin’ underneath the street lights
In my old raincoat and cain

I had a friend
One day he told me
He heard the sound of that cain
Getting louder t’wards his bedroom
Outside the window pane
He opened the curtains, slowly, shaking
Heart pounding like a train
That’s when he saw that old man looking straight at him
And then he told him the same

These dark nights
In the pouring rain
They can make you go crazy, people
Go Insane
But for me, I get comfort
I dont feel no pain
Walkin’ underneath the street lights
In my old raincoat and cain

When I was older
That’s when I realised
Just what that old man was sayin’
One day you’ll be like me son
You’ll die then wake again
Then you’ll walk these streets like I did
In your raincoat in cain
Underneath these street lights
In your raincoat and cain

These dark nights
In the pouring rain
They can make you go crazy, people
Go Insane
But for me, I get comfort
I dont feel no pain
Walkin’ underneath the street lights
In my old raincoat and cain

These dark nights

Times, they are changing
Times, they are changing
Times are a changing
Can’t believe’a what I see
Times, they are changing
Times, they are changing
Times are a changing
Just ain’t like it used to be

Well they, they closed the shipyard gates
for the last time down my way
And this, this little town of mine
Ain’t gonna see the likes again
When men, men size’a mountains
used to spend their working days
Now all, all that is left down there
Is a rusty yellow crane

Times, they are changing
Times, they are changing
Times are a changing
Can’t believe’a what I see
Times, they are changing
Times, they are changing
Times are a changing
Just ain’t like it used to be

Well the, the local football fields
are lying empty, no one plays
So where’s, where’s all the kids a’gone?
At home with their Xbox games
Oh these, these fields were full of friends
Playing every single day
Yeah this, this little town of mine
Ain’t gonna see the likes again

Times, they are changing
Times, they are changing
Times are a changing
Can’t believe’a what I see
Times, they are changing
Times, they are changing
Times are a changing
Just ain’t like it used to be

It just, just ain’t the way it was
when we were young and free
When the, the summers were long and hot
Now the cold it gets to me
And I, I look around with sadness
But also wonderful memories
Yeah this, this little town of mine
Just ain’t like it used to be

Ain't like it used to be

Got my whole life packed in two bags
In the back of the car
Gonna drive til the sun goes down
Who knows how far
Not an another vehicle in sight
Just green grass and blue skies for miles
Windows down, shades on
Ain’t felt like this for a while

Driving through these old country roads
Tryin’ to forget about you
I got Springsteen on the radio
Life is good
And I’m gonna use this bright sunny day
To start anew
Life is good
Oh life is good

Now the further I go
Less I miss the place that I left behind
Excited by this new chapter
And what I will find
Wish that I had gone and done this
A long time ago
Just me and my own company
Bruce on the radio

Driving through these old country roads
Tryin’ to forget about you
I got Springsteen on the radio
Life is good
And I’m gonna use this bright sunny day
To start anew
Life is good
Oh life is good

Pull into a sleepy little town where the people…
They don’t judge us fools
Book a room for the night
I’m free, don’t have to follow no rules
I head down to the local bar
Just one guy and his guitar
There she sits, her eyes so green
Over by the jukebox machine

Driving through these old country roads
And I’ve forgot about you
I got Springsteen on the radio
Life is good
And I’m gonna use this bright sunny day
To start anew
Life is good
Oh life is good

New Start (Life is Good)

My swimming pool lies empty all through the week
Til my friends arrive on fridays, cool down from the heat
Barbecues and sippin’ champagne in the summer sun
Today I thought about that time you decided I wasn’t the one

Got my size 15 shoes on and my trousers with stripes
Got a little red nose, big smile I just cannot wipe
Well who’s the clown now girl?
Who’s the clown now?
I’m riding on a wave, I’m on top of the world
Shook loose my fears and all my worries
And I got a new little pearl
Who’s the clown now girl?
Who’s the clown now?

6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms it is all too much
Wardrobe full of expensive clothes that I don’t even touch
Holiday homes abroad, might be 4 or 5
2 new cars in the garage and I don’t even drive
When you left this loser and his empty bank account
Called me names, said I was nothing, well I’m something now

Heard you got two kids now, staying back at your mums
Had a guy who was in a rock band, think he banged on the drums
By the time the second came along he was ready to run
Do you ever wonder if you stayed instead…....…
With this dumb stupid bum

Got my size 15 shoes on and my trousers with stripes
Got a little red nose, big smile I just cannot
Well who’s the clown now girl?
Who’s the clown now?

The Clown

Little planes are up there in the sky
Fires...signals….they just fly on by
All I want is to see you one more time
To leave these palm trees, coconuts and limes

Been seven years since you said
It’s all I’ve got in my head
I love you
Been seven years in my head
It’s all I wish I had said
I love you
I love you

Now I know you’ll have moved on with your life
But it’s your face that keeps me sane and alive
Gonna build a raft and sail it home now, Yeah that’s right
I will leave this damn rock, wave it goodbye

Been seven years since you said
It’s all I’ve got in my head
I love you
Been seven years in my head
It’s all I wish I had said
I love you
I love you

Three days sailing when I see some land
See that help sign written in the sand
Please god, wont’ you give me a hand
God, won’t you give me a hand
God, won’t you give me a hand
This island, won’t you let me leave?
To get back to where I’m wantin’ to be
Just wanna be back by your side
Fix mistakes that I made in my life

Been seven years since you said
It’s all I’ve got in my head
I love you
Been seven years in my head
It’s all I wish I had said
I love you

Monday Morning
Gotta be there for 9
Got some work, aint gonna mess up this time
Stop for coffee, need to wake up my eyes
Thats when she came walking by by by

That pretty girl from ‘cross the street
That pretty girl I was always too shy to meet
The one that I was gonna be with forever
Somehow we never ended up together

Wednesday
Think I’ve been working here my whole life
But I still cant get you off my mind
Thinking ‘bout that time we rode our bikes
Down that dirt road by the riverside

That pretty girl from ‘cross the street
That pretty girl I was always too shy to meet
The one that I was gonna be with forever
Somehow we never ended up together

Friday, payday
Gonna meet up with the guys
Shoot some pool, and mines a vodka with ice
Thats when I see those beautiful pale blue eyes
Baby this is gonna be the night!

Few drinks later, and it’s time to walk over
With every step, getting sober and sober
Will she even remember this guy?
Thats when she looks me with that cool cool smile

That pretty girl from ‘cross the street
That pretty girl I was always too shy to meet
I thought we would never end up together
Now we are gonna last forever

That pretty girl from ‘cross the street
That pretty girl I was always too shy to meet
I thought we would never end up together

New Job (Old Love)

You were the one
I only realise it now
looking down on you
this life was gone too soon

I'm in my best tie and suit
standing at this gate
asking God if I was good
this life was gone too soon

mistakes.....regrets
ifs...….buts......whys
they all come back to the times
that I spent with you
this life was gone too soon

But you gave me the time
you cared when I lied
you forgave me every single time
and you were there right up until the moment that I died

Yeah you were the one
I only realise it now
looking down on you
this life was gone too soon
this life was gone too soon
this life was gone too soon
this life was gone too soon
but i'll always remember you
