I know that life can be unfair,

Burning deep with such self-blame,
Whilst we try to not go insane.

So stressed out you can't sleep or eat,
And abusive voices cut too deep,
As reality becomes increasingly bleak,
Till every morning when you wake you weep.

Only if we learn to let go,
Of all our pain and shame and woe,
Can we truly overcome and out-grow,
The chains of bondage that only we know.

Moving place to place nowhere to call home,
All others see is skin and bone,
To let it out at night I scar myself,
In the downward spiral of my mental health.

Whilst every day at school the bullies abuse,
I guess loneliness and hunger is my only muse,
A new day with new trauma the oppression again,
So in sorrow and suffering, I bury the pain.

All the it girls get all the it boys,
While I am another discarded toy,
In order to live I know I must eat,
But at the moment I wallow in shame and defeat.

Another hopeless day I will see go to waste,
Judging my worth by the inches around my waist,
Faking strength every day just to try and fit in,
In all of my dreams, I dreamed of being thin.

I hope one day someones love opens my shell,
Because these last few years were like from hell,
Trapped inside this body at nighttime I scream,
Because at the moment my only freedom is in my daydreams.
