(Verse)
Charlie wants the latest iphone
Sister wants designer clothes
Don't know how I’m gonna tell them
Those bills are piling high

Didn’t see the wise men coming
Tinsel sharks they prey on me
Soon we’ll hear the sleigh bells ringing
Saint Nick can’t tell me why

(Pre-Chorus)
Need to face my reality
Toughen my heart so my head can breathe
It's not about giving , I've got to keep living
The festive feeling’s hypnotising me

(Chorus)
Here’s to another make-do Christmas
With plastic smiles that hide the tears
I’ve got to pay my debt to Jesus and make it right for them I swear
I’ve got to pay my debt to Jesus and make it right for them I swear

(Verse)
Ads we see on television
Let the fat cats sing their song
Dressed to the nines in sugar coats
and we all sing along

Caught up in the sparkling season
I kid myself I still believe
It's a trap when the bait is down
Let’s take this show to town

(Bridge)
I should swallow all my foolish pride
And cast away this fake disguise
But oh dear God it's so worth it for
a jam packed sack of promised lies

(Pre-Chorus)
Need to face my reality
Toughen my heart so my head can breathe
It's not about giving , I've got to keep living
The festive feeling’s hypnotising me

(Chorus)
Here’s to another make-do Christmas
With plastic smiles that hide the tears
I’ve got to pay my debt to Jesus and make it right for them I swear

Pay My Debt To Jesus

(Verse)
Lazy boy lazy boy sitting on the sofa
Move your butt and get yourself to school
Lazy boy lazy boy sitting on the sofa
Move your butt and go and see the world

Lazy boy lazy boy sitting on the sofa
Got your head stuck to your iphone
Lazy boy lazy boy sitting on the sofa
Shift a gear you’re looking like a clone

(Pre-chorus)
You should put your brain to some use
Don’t act like life’s just one big joke
You say you got no energy
A robot future is all you see

(Chorus)
Wake up, wake up, you lazy boy
Take your chance and grab it by the balls
If you just watch life passing by
Your battery life is sure to die

(Bridge)
Soak it up, let your brain take the strain from breathing
Change your thinking and you can have it all
Got to pay your way so you can have your day
Make it happen, listen to what I say.

(Pre-chorus)
You should put your brain to some use
Don’t act like life’s just one big joke
You say you got no energy
A robot future is all you see

(Chorus)
Wake up, wake up, you lazy boy
Take your chance and grab it by the balls
If you just watch life passing by
Your battery life is sure to die

(Fade out with)
Lazy boy lazy boy you're such a silly lazy boy
Lazy boy lazy boy you're such a silly lazy boy

About Me

Bio

My name is Carol Chalk. I was born in Broad Chalke, Wiltshire in 1963 where I spent the first quarter century of my life. Since then I have lived in various parts of England, including Hampshire, Cornwall, Middlesex, Surrey and Dorset. I now live in South East London.

I left my comprehensive school in Salisbury in 1980 and attended the local college during the following year enrolled on a secretarial course. In 2004 I graduated from The Open University with a Bachelor of Arts (Open) degree, in history, humanities and social science subjects.

My career has been predominantly administrative, with writing as a hobby.

CV/History

I started writing poetry as a child and have always valued this creative ability. I have poems published in several compilations of poetry by United Press.

In 2013 I decided to turn my hand to lyric writing, using my poetic skills and limited musical ability. I'm getting there so watch this space.

In June 2016 I started contributing to 'The Talko' online magazine.

There is, of course, the big novel waiting in the wings.
