“Front Porch Swing”
-Walk right by without saying a word
-But spend two hours playing angry bird
-Running the rat race, don’t want to miss our turn
The farther we progress, the more we have to learn.
I guess the old timers had it right all along.
-Made time for a visit
-knew the words to every song
-A wiffle ball, a bat, and a bike you can ride
Get off that screen, and get your tail outside.
We all need a front porch
and a sturdy wooden swing.
-A place to share our good news
-A place to chase away our blues
-Black and white cat
curled up on a pillow
-Soft wind rustling
through a weeping willow
-Flowers in pots
-Watching birds that sing
We all need a front porch
and a sturdy wooden swing.
-A place to make plan
-A place to build dream
Too hot outside?
-Not here in the shade
Take a minute to visit.
Watch your problems fade.
Feel like a cup of coffee?
No, it’s too late.
You got sweet tea?
Now things are startin’ to take shape.
-A smillin’ face, a batch of cookies in the oven
Come sit right here and give me some lovin’.
-A wiffle ball, a bat, and a bike you can ride
Get off that screen, and get your tail outside.
We all need a front porch
and a sturdy wooden swing.
-A place to share our good news

“Guiding Me”
I’m continually stumbling
way out of bounds.
You’re patiently turning
all my mistakes around.
I’m thinking I can make it alone,
surviving on my wit.
You’re preparing the way for me,
but time after time, I forget.
You’re always faithful,
always by my side-
helping me let go
of my foolish pride.
How tender is your heart!
-Having loved me from the start.
You know my headstrong ways-
there beside me all my days.
You’re guiding me gently
through each obstacle I face,
I’m living in the fullness
of Your glory and grace.
You’re cheering me on
as I run the race,
I’m living in the fullness
of Your glory and grace.
You untangle my mistakes, one by one.
Your mercies are new each morning
-with the rising sun.
Your plans are always good,
better than I could even dream.
Because you see the whole picture,
and things aren’t always as they seem.
I’m learning to trust day by day,
when I worry about what I can’t see.
I’m letting go of fear,
knowing You do what’s best for me.
More of You and less of me,
This is my prayer too,
As I walk this winding path,
step by step with You.
You’re guiding me gently
through each obstacle I face,
I’m living in the fullness
of Your glory and grace.
You’re cheering me on
as I run the race,
I’m living in the fullness
of Your glory and grace.
Not knowing the future,
I sometimes feel misunderstood.
Your ways are higher than mine;
I know Your plans are good.
In Heaven, many treasures
are there stockpiled,
and we press on
hoping to hear,
“Well done, my good
and faithful child.”

“Lean into Me”
-Found in the dust-covered book
Take it off the shelf.
Have a look.
It’s been there all these years
-to save many heartaches and tears.
Throw off the shame that we wore.
We were meant for so much more.
He will knock; we must open the door.
He doesn’t promise a life without pain.
But with Him, we will never be the same.
Bear the fruit every day.
Take time to listen to what He may say.
Lean into Me,
For the future I can see.
Throw off your pride become meek.
Find the answers that you seek.
Search my heart.
He is there
-In the beauty of an honest prayer.
The Great I AM – He will always be
-The one who planted the fruitful tree
Patience, Love, and Joy
We will bear.
Gentleness and faithfulness are found there.
Throw off your pride; become meek
-For the answers that you seek.
You will want everyone to know
-The way to joy in the midst of sorrow.
Because in this world, we will have trouble.
But take heart, He left the tomb in rubble.
-Our life but a fleeting moment in time
Days can take a turn on a dime.
He is faithful, will finish what He has begun,
and there really is nothing new under the sun.
If we stay connected to the vine,
We hear him whisper- His will divine.
Lean into Me,
For the future I can see.
Throw off your pride -become meek.
Find the answers that you seek.
Search my heart.
He is there

The Great I AM – He will always be
-The one who planted the fruitful tree
Patience, Love, and Joy

“We Were Old School”
Elton, Michael, Lynyrd and Rod-
top of my list before the ipod
Stayed out til the sun went down,
shooting baskets in the street.
Got our laughs in real time.
-no such thing as a tweet.
Hours together, we passed our days
out by the water soakin’ up rays.
Moma’s words were alarms

Talked on the phone all night

Didn’t second guess our each and every move.
Had more time to think and find our grove.
Yep, we were old school-
Drank our share of beer,
played our share of pool.
Kid in class a bit high-strung?
Teacher said, “Go outside and run.”
Out of breath he’d come back in
-go straight work.
A little common sense was all it took.
Making the class laugh
got you bonus points.
Spent our weekends
trying to find hoppin’ juke joints.
We’ll tell you face to face

Rather hear your voice than a text any ole day.

“Mountains to Move”
This ole world can beat us down.
But Jesus gave us the words that drown
all the doubt and worry that come
with the rise of a brand-new sun.
The day before us to face-
For his glory we run our race.
The flowers of the field
are dressed in the greatest splendor,
and so He makes a way for us
that our fears will never hinder.
His rod and staff before us,
we keep to the straight and narrow.
Doubt creeping up behind us, but
We know his eye is on the sparrow.
His eye is even on the sparrow.
What else must our Savior prove?
It’s time to run for Jesus.
It’s time for mountains to move.
The birds lift up their song.
A brand-new day beginning,
A new chance we are given.
We bow our heads with thanks,
this day we plan on winning.
We will use all that we have.
We hope to make our Savior glad.
We will give it our best,
for we have been so richly blessed.
We hope to bring a smile to His face.
We won’t give up; we will run our race.
His rod and staff before us,
we keep to the straight and narrow.
Doubt creeping up behind us, but
We know his eye is on the sparrow.
His eye is even on the sparrow.
What else must our Savior prove?
It’s time to run for Jesus.
It’s time for mountains to move.
He will be right by our side.
His love He will never hide.
It may seem that we are all alone,
and left wandering aimlessly we roam.
But when we mark the day with prayer,
whatever lies before us,
He will always be right there.
His rod and staff before us,
we keep to the straight and narrow.
Doubt creeping up behind us, but
We know his eye is on the sparrow.
His eye is even on the sparrow.
What else must our Savior prove?
It’s time to run for Jesus.
It’s time for mountains to move.

“The Co-pilot by your Side”
Some say luck is blind,
or the stars were aligned?
-Spinning our wheels trying to get ahead
-tossing and turning in our bed
But what if there is a plan
right from the start,
and all we have to do is play our part.
I know for some it’s a hard sell.
Fear has a different story to tell.
The faces and smiles we pass each day
hold the clues that guide our way.
Our Maker has the plan well in hand.
Maybe we just sit back and enjoy the band.
When we have the right co-pilot at our side,
Maybe we just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Probably have everything we need.
Someone before us planted the seed.
-still need to be prepared
-but no need to be so scared
Hustle every day-
don’t give up before you know.
Make excellence a habit-
then you find your flow.
Set your sights on things above,
always making time for those you love.
Lend a hand when you can help
others find their way.
Encourage one another
in what we choose to say.
Thankful for the gifts we’ve been dealt in spades-
-good looks, good hair, and brand new shades.
Our Maker has the plan well in hand.
Maybe we just sit back and enjoy the band.
When we have the right co-pilot at our side,
Maybe we just sit back and enjoy the ride.
We can lose sight quick
of things that really matter.
In the back of our mind
doubt and worry chatter.
But it doesn’t have to be as hard as it seems.
Do the best you can;
let Him worry about the in-betweens.
He has the plan well in hand
-Wrote the book, hired the band
-So Relax and enjoy the ride
No need to worry
when He’s the co-pilot by your side.

“Sunset Coast Schemers”
Don’t have a clue what teacher just said.
-Just scored a touchdown in my head.
What’s got you so interested
-staring out the window?
Oh, just headed to a party
-in my personal limo.
The things I can dream- if you only knew.
May seem like wasted time to you.
-But to those of you who dream too
We’re part of the same unique crew.
-recognize one another from the celeb. hot tub.
-in the same VIP club.
Here’s to the daydream believers-
The sunset coast schemers
Setting notions into motion
Building bridges to their dreams
The daydream believers
The seaside mansion schemers
Setting notions into motion
Building bridges to their dreams
Dreamers are a curious bunch
Not afraid to act on a hunch
-always see the best.
-puts them ahead of the rest.
The ones who dream
may seem like they’re wasting time to you.
But it’s the dreamers who really know
They’re the ones controlling the show.
Hours and hours hatching the perfect plan
So they can spend three months
working on their tan.
It’s the dreamers we have to thank.
-Take the risk to make the bank
-Keep us guessing what will come next.
They dreamed it many times
-each ending more complex.
Here’s to the daydream believers-
The sunset coast schemers
Setting notions into motion
Building bridges to their dreams
The daydream believers
The seaside mansion schemers
Setting notions into motion
Building bridges to their dreams
I’m a dreamer like the rest
-been one since way back when.
Guess my daddy planted the seed
-because in our world there’s always a need,
-and the dreamers are the most fun.
Doubt me? -Just ask one.

Drank our share of beer,
played our share of pool.
