“Am I Here”

What do I write
What I think
What I thought
To The one who understands
As I am not smart
Like a broken crayon
To the artist
My knowledge goes the same
I grab my pen
And think about the day
Was it good? Am I here
That’s what I have to say

Am I Here

“A Job In Itself”

Looking for a man
Is a job in itself
No 9 to 5 job
But 24 hours
Does he need to be cute
Just give me one sane
Dear Lord
All I ask
Is that he treat me good
Non-violent. Faithful.
Like a good man should.
Don’t drive me to drink
Before I’ve even met you
Hold your booze and this
I will bet you
You’ll never find a better
Girl than me

A Job In Itself

“How She Chose To Live”

Be a blessing to someone else
Is what the preachers say
She doesn’t have much to give
But shares in her own
Little way
She’ll buy you an item
That she really can’t afford
She’ll bake you a goodie
Better than a store
For dinner her homemade dishes
Make you salivate and devour
A blessing to all
Is how she chose to live
Sharing in the belief
Of what she learned
From a higher power

How She Chose To Live

“Might Not Forgive”

God says not to have a gloomy face
But what if a gal is not a beauty
Maybe she’s been re-arranged
More than once
She was born oh so pretty
And oh so delicate to
The touch
People make fun
All that make-up on
What do people want
Love her for what she is
Don’t take her caring forgranted
If so, she just might not forgive.

Might Not Forgive

“When It’s Time”

She misses her momma
She misses her papa
She misses the kids
And the dogs
Remembering the days of
Good ‘ol blue jeans
And 2 inch high heel clogs
Wondering if those
Childhood friends
Still remember back when
They made her feel so special
She was with momma and papa
Alot
A child so different
Quiet and shy
She often asked God why
She could hardly fit in
God told her
Momma and papa are going to tell you when it is time.
You will meet a man
Sweep you off of your feet
And say now you are all mine.

When It's Time

“Paycheck To Paycheck”

Isn’t she pretty
Isn’t he hot
They make the perfect couple
The kind headlines talk about
Money is no problem for them
Or is it all an act
Are they really living paycheck to paycheck
Oh who really cares
Me and my honey
Don’t have a whole lot of money
Call our transactions poor
We are not in debt
Keep a little from each paycheck
Tuck a little away
A God-honest way
It’s called living on a budget

“Did Their Best”

She misses hearing you sing
Those sweet church
Melodies
While she was at the organ
They made so many memories
In the name of the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit
The rituals ever blessed
People can still hear them
Play
They sure did their best

Did Their Best

“The Devil Took Her Away In A Car”

Her momma called her a drunk
Now she keeps a cup of joe
By her side
All she thinks about is
Work
No worthy man
To help provide
She’s been through hell
But nobody will tell
How sorry they are
Let me tell you one thing
While you were partying
The devil took her away
In a car
The good girl fought for freedom and won
That bitch thought she was fun
However, then now the good girl will party
When the bad girl that bitch has no one.
